A 34-year-old British astrophysicist visiting the Greek island of Ikaria vanished during a morning run — and authorities believe a body found in a ravine Wednesday is hers, according to new reports.

Dr. Natalie Christopher, who was from London but was living in Cyprus, was on vacation with her 38-year-old partner, who reported her missing when she didn’t answer her phone Monday, Metro UK reported.

Authorities on the island, about 130 miles southeast of Athens, discovered a body in a ravine as they swept the region for any signs of Christopher, the outlet reported.

The body has yet to be formally identified, but local media claim it is Christopher.

Christopher’s disappearance comes a month after the body of Suzanne Eaton, a molecular biologist at the Max Planck Institute at Dresden University in Germany, was found inside a World War II bunker in the Cretan town of Chania.

This wasn’t an “astrophysicist.” It was just a WOMAN. ALONE. “Jogging.” Yet another murder of a woman jogging alone. In a foreign country no less. WHY do they continue to do it, despite the nearly constant news stories of previous dead women? I just don’t get why ANY woman would ever go out jogging alone — outside of a crowded urban environment.

Cyprus must really be bad, if she was murdered. From the info presented in the excerpt, it is not possible to know whether she had an accident or was murdered.

Exercise is generally better done with people around you. That way, if you fall or have a cardiac event, there’s someone around to call 911. For joggers, there’s the additional issue of getting attacked by criminals who are either lying in wait, or happen to encounter the victim by chance.

I indoor bike at the local rec district. Always someone there either outside at the desk or another exerciser. Ofc I also have a GLOCK 43 with spare mag (but no round chambered) either on IWB or in bag hanging on the bike. After showering and getting dressed I go to +1 mode before leaving.
