I went to the original shop that started it all. I was very unimpressed. It was prepared as advertised, it was just not anything that was worth ruining fries for preparing.

It’s best if the fries are crisp, fried in new oil.
The ‘gravy’ should be homemade and not from a mix.................

The key is the gravy.
I’m in Canada a lot, and many small shops there just use the cheap powdered, just-add-water stuff. Tastes fake.
