DETROIT (AP) The most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built will go on sale this fall.
A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will crank out 760 horsepower in the 2020 Shelby GT500.
The new version has a beefed-up suspension and brakes. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission that Ford promises will shift smoothly on commutes and quickly on the track. The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force.

“After 40,000 Miles with an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Our Heart Is Broken
We desperately hoped for this enthralling Italian sedan to succeed, but we were consistently disappointed by its unforgivable reliability issues.”
Car&Driver
I’m as much a horsepower pig as the next guy, but there are not a lot of people on the road qualified to drive a vehicle with that HP to weight ratio.
Regular Mustang beats Alpha at Laguna Seca and VIR.

LOL!
As I posted previously, I made NO claims to reliability.
Clearly, the FordFools have to create a false narrative to attack me - kinda like CNN. Thanks for outing yourself.
btw, Car & Driver?
So they post negative review. Could it be they are protecting the advertising dollars from BMW/MB - cars the Giulia Quadrifoglio trounced in other reviews?
Try again...
Now there’s a credible source with no agenda.
Gotta protect the FordFools...
LOL!
“Clearly, the FordFools have to create a false narrative to attack me - kinda like CNN. Thanks for outing yourself.”
LOL. Typical liberal tactic when faced with the facts. Claim victim status and label the others even though I never attacked you. You didn’t out me; you lied.
“Now theres a credible source with no agenda.

LOL!”
Facts have no agenda. Again you go with the liberal agenda of trying to kill the messenger when you don’t like the facts.
The idea a FordFool thinks a Mustang is superior to a Ferrrari-design, well...if the name fits...
QUESTION: Who in the hell would be stupid enough to pay $75k (base price) for an ugly FordMustang that does not have the name “Shelby” on it?
ANSWER: A FordFool...the new “FF”
Buh-Bye...
“I havent been in the 2020 but have driven a 2019 Z06.
The Mustang is a different class. I went with the Mustang because it is a friendlier car to drive on public roads.”
I was responding to a poster who asked if the Mustang “handled like a Ferrari F8 Tributo”. The Corvette is certainly a lot closer to that goal than the Mustang!
“Please post prices and specs that support your post.”
The base 2020 Corvette will start at “less than $60,000”, and that base model + Z51 performance package will do 0-60 “in less than three seconds”.
The Z51 package should run about $5,000, so a total cost at least $10,000 less than the Mustang. Of course, the Mustang does have a back seat and two more doors...
“The idea a FordFool thinks a Mustang is superior to a Ferrrari-design, well...if the name fits...”
Once again you lie and slur. Noone said a mustang is superior to a Ferrari.
” that does not have the name Shelby on it?”
I guess you didn’t read the name on the car.
“and two more doors...”
The only verifiable fact in your post. Safe to say that it is false.
“So they post negative review.
It was a positive review and they named it in the top ten best cars inn2018.
They just couldn’t get past 81 days out of 12 months in the shop.
“The only verifiable fact in your post. Safe to say that it is false.”
LOL! If you’re that lazy, there’s not much hope for ya!
Both of those basic facts, less than $60K and less than 3 seconds 0-60, were announced at the massively publicized unveiling of the 2020 Corvette just a few days ago.
A few seconds with Google would have cleared it all up.....
“A few seconds with Google would have cleared it all up.....”
I don’t need to google. You said you were guessing at the price. And you didn’t provide the Shelby numbers.
0-100-0 in 10.6 seconds
I don't care who you are, 0 to 100 and back to 0 in 10.6 seconds is impressive!
the TR-9070 DCT dual-clutch transmission has a novel wet clutch system with five friction plates in the odd-gear pack for a total of 155 square inches of surface area.
I've rebuilt Cat dozer powershift transmissions that use wet clutch packs all the way up to a D8. I'd test them by opening the throttle wide open, holding the brakes and engaging the transmission multiple times through forward range (3 speeds) and in reverse (also three speeds). The power shaft had to stop spinning in about a second as the torque convertor engaged. Repeat for a minute or so.
Most motorcycles and automatic transmissions today have wet clutch packs as well.
They work great!
Btw, the previous model could do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Not bad for four seats.
I defer to your knowledge. I don’t know that much about them.
