DETROIT (AP) — The most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built will go on sale this fall.

A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will crank out 760 horsepower in the 2020 Shelby GT500.

The new version has a beefed-up suspension and brakes. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission that Ford promises will shift smoothly on commutes and quickly on the track. The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force.

Fast yes. But will it handle like the Ferrari F8 Tributo?

Handle it but for how long?

The power difference between normal and foot to the floor is so big you can never have a happy midpoint. My guess if you really get on it once every 3 weeks it will last 40k/50k miles before a $8000+ repair.

“Dual-clutch transmissions have no clutch pedal, which makes them function as an automatic.”

A basic element of an automatic is the torque converter. The dual clutch has no torque converter.

Additionally, the dual-clutch has two ratios engaged at the same time, selecting the appropriate gear via each of the two clutches.

No, but it’ll leave a Ferrari in the dust when the red-light changes to green in most US-of-A city streets...;)

No, but for the price you can get two-foresomes and clubs to the course really quick.

After the warranty expires, I’d definitely be doing my own repairs and maybe even before it expires, like I do now - except for recalls. Not many dealers hire the kind of techs you want working on something like this.

What bothers me is designed and/or built in Detroit, this is a dead area and car is most likely build by homeless folks or druggies....stay away from Detroit....

Then there are the electronics. I’m sure those hitech metal coatings aren’t cheap either. GDI injectors must really pack the PSI and quantity too. I can’t imagine what the fuel flow rate is.

I can guarantee the Mustang does NOT have the handling/steering precision of a Ferrari - not even in the same universe.

Ditto the Alfa-Romero Giulia Quadrifoglio which has a Ferrari steering system for same price as this Mustang.

I’m sure the Mustang will go fast in a straight line.

ps: my first car was a ‘67 Mustang

Nobody needs a 760 HP High Capacity Assault Vehicle.

Congress needs to ban all cars with greater than 50 HP per ton of weight.
