Vanity - thoughts on new criminal proceedings for mass shootings

Posted on 08/04/2019 8:33:16 PM PDT by Treeless Branch

There are never any discussions on how to prosecute these horrific crimes. How about this for a start? All thoughts are welcome. Any shootings with five or more people killed where there is evidence with NO reasonable doubt e.g. manifesto and video evidence, there will be a jury trial in federal court within six months of the murders. And then one and only one appeal directly to the US Supreme Court that is automatically moved to the top of the docket. The ruling on appeal must be issued within three months. If the verdict is upheld, automatic sentence of death will be carried out via the same method the convicted murderer used within one week e.g. if guns were used, firing squad.

Trial within one, not six months.

Terrorism that involves mass killings should be a federal crime.

Our Masters in the government use the courts and the judges to mock us when it comes to these things.

They'll spend MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars and YEARS to "prove" that the Sun rose in the East, yet again.

We got witnesses, video, law enforcement taking him down with weapons in hand.

Eff you and your "common sense", peasant.

Throw the body onto a heavily-traveled freeway afterwards.

Knowing that you'll be turned into blood pudding for the crows might make these little Mittheels think twice...

Public execution by hanging.

With an emphasis on "public".

Deterrence does not apply to the insane.

That's not going to prevent mass shootings. Most of the shooters kill themselves or are killed by the police during the event. Prison time alone is not a deterrent because most of them have decided before hand they will kill themselves or use suicide by cop so they do not think they will ever go to prison. Some don't care and will still turn to mass murder.

The answer is to plant into the minds of the crazies not a fear of being caught but rather a fear that it won't work and they won't get to kill a bunch of people AND they will end up in prison. If the crazies are convinced they will be stopped in the act, they won't try it to begin with.

I wrote what I truly believe is the answer to stopping the mass shooting problem in another thread. It will work.

An armed citizen close enough to see them in the act and then shoot them in the head would be great.

Saves a lot of fuss and taxpayer dollars.

Firstly, It's not clear what you are trying to accomplish with your proposals.

Assuming they are meant to deter others from committing mass shootings, the measures you posit are virtually usless since very few of these criminals are taken alive.

And in the El Paso case, it’s Texas - they will kill you back!

Agreed.

No more ‘gun-free zones’.

Reciprocal carry (open or concealed) in all 50 states.

You're not going to deter the mentally ill from being mentally ill with any new "system".

Just as the democRATS aren't going to stop mass shootings by passing more gun "control" and, my favorite, gun "safety" laws, after the fact.

Bad, evil psychotic people will not be deterred by stricter laws. If they were concerned about laws against killing, they wouldn't be out killing to begin with.

You want "legitimate justice"? Shoot and kill them before they can kill again.

Maybe so but as it is now, the feds don't go after mass killers. Do we really want our federal government prosecuting mass shooters? How will that solve anything?

My suggestion for justice for mass killing shooters, is to shoot and kill the perpetrators so they can't kill again. These people are mentally ill and aren't deterred by stricter or more severe laws.

Unconstitutional.

And most of them do us the favor of killing themselves.

Waste of time to propose un-Constitutional remedies.

This will eventually pass.

the only modification that I would make to the firing squad, is that there needs to be blindfolds... for the squad.

No blindfold for the convicted.

this will also require a change to the 1 bullet rule. May require 50 round drums.
