What ails the US press?
Powerline ^ | 3 Aug, 2019 | Scott Johnson

The question of “What ails the US press?” is too big for one column or one case study. Holman Jenkins takes it up in his Wall Street Journal Business World column this morning in the matter of the Steele Dossier. Whence the allegations of the dossier? We still don’t know. The subhead to the column puts it this way: “The media’s lack of interest in the Steele dossier amounts to collusion in a coverup.”

The lack of journalistic interest calls for an explanation. Laziness, stupidity, herd mentality, and partisanship all seem to have something to do with the utter lack of interest in what it’s all about, although any one of these factors all by itself may be enough to explain it.

Jenkins applies the question to the Mueller Report: It needs to be understood whether the Mueller report, and the Mueller investigation itself, was essentially a product of disinformation (and whose disinformation). Did the Steele dossier’s lies really originate with Russian sources, and to what purpose? Was the dossier embraced by members of the U.S. government because they believed it or because it was useful against a presidential candidate they disapproved of? (Pretending to believe false intelligence may not be an actionable dereliction, but the question needs to be asked.)

The “journalists” in the MSM seem to have much linger noses these days.

The problem is millennials. They can’t write! Devoid of curiosity! Lazy as hell! And brainwashed into Democrap causes. Top that with not standards being enforced by the scumbags in charge; Presto! DNC Pravda!

Its not just the steele dossier.

Why the lack of interest in huma abedin/anthony wiener’s laptop. that laptop had over 600,000 emails going back 20 years. It had hillary cc’s that would have covered pizzagate, benghazi, pay for play in the state department, and of course epstein’s island of dr moreau.

no one was interested in wresting that laptop from the cold dead hands of the NYC office of the fbi.

also. why the lack of interest in who actually downloaded democrat committee data that made the democrats legitimately crazy. for that matter who killed seth rich. really that whole story stunk in just the way of 1980-90’s Arkansides.

“What is clear is that neither his report nor testimony provide the answer. After determining that there never was a Trump-Russia conspiracy, Mueller showed no interest in investigating why so many high-placed officials said they believed there had been. His report told us what didn’t happen during the 2016 election, but shed little light on what did happen, and why.”

Silly, Mueller’s only job was to get Trump, not to get Trump’s accusers.

The question of “What ails the US press?” ...

The press is no more an extension of the democrat Party. Or maybe it's the other way around. But that is what ails them. That and every member of the press has been brain washed with anti-American anti-Western Civ BS from the bogus journalist schools they attend and they have no knowledge of history or the culture.

The entire corporate media conglomerates have a wicked case of TDS.

Personally, methinks the lot of them have penis envy.

We no longer have a press. We have an extension of the DNC masquerading as press, but the days of journalism are over.

Presto! DNC Pravda!

Pravda and Izvestia pale in comparison to the current MSM.

What ails the US press?

Pretty simple.

Global Media Corporations who do business with foreign anti American governments, who make money directly or indirectly, by pushing anti American propaganda.

Did the article cover that? couldn't read past the first paragraph that seemed to totally miss that point.

The press is a corpse and a dang ugly corpse. It came down to their death or the nation’s death. Sanity prevailed

“What ails the US press?”

They’ve devolved when they were never meant to either evolve or devolve. They can’t see it because they’re too close to it.

Coming from an old-school reporter — now retired, thank God — your diagnosis is correct.

I worked under my share of liberal editors in the 1980s and 90s. But with few exceptions, all they cared about was getting your facts straight and your copy in on time.

They’re all retired or departed to the big newsroom in the sky.

Presstitutes these days give opinions versus news with facts. I respect they’re right to have opinion based shows with bought and paid for agendas driven. As well as my freedom to not watch that stupid crap. ALL news these days is POLITICAL .

I think back in the day stations FCC etc required air time for opposing “opinions”..... was it Reagan that changed that rule or law that allowed the MSM to be a bought and paid for propaganda arm of the socialist polidiots and their handlers .

News is not real these days...... I have to go try and verify what happened, when, where and why on my own dime and time versus any form of media.
