SEOUL, South KoreaNorth Korea fired what appeared to short-range ballistic missiles twice Friday into the sea off its eastern coast in its third round of weapons tests in just over a week, South Koreas military and presidential office said. Seouls Joint Chiefs of Staff said the launches were conducted at 2:59 a.m. and 3:23 a.m. from an eastern coastal area and said the projectiles flew 137 miles (220 kilometers) on an apogee of 15 miles (25 kilometers) and at a max speed of Mach 6.9. South Koreas presidential office, which held a meeting presided over by chief national security adviser Chung Eui-yong to discuss the launches, said the South Korean and U.S. militaries shared an assessment that the projectiles were likely newly developed short-range ballistic missiles the North has been testing in recent weeks. However, the office said further analysis was needed because the projectiles showed similar flight characteristics with the weapons that the North test fired on Wednesday and described as a new rocket artillery system.

Chinese revenge for 9/1 tariff increase?
Lots of saber rattling going on in the world right now.
Those nuclear sabers are the ones that concern me.
I know it’s a LONG SHOT that one will ever be used but I don’t know many weapons that were made to never use.
Especially if your side starts losing the conventional war.
Perhaps someone is supplying the missles to the little guy with the very bad haircut, and he sets them off like fireworks. Otherwise, he must lead a very boring life.
I am just guessing but I assume there are numerous, critical mechanical and electrical connections that are vital to a nuclear weapon. Accelerating that weapon at 6 to 12 Gs probably stresses the hell out of a lot of those things. So if you are designing them you need to know how to make them stand up to the stress and I guess the only way to be sure is to test the components while actually undergoing that stress. Since the telemetry from the missile is the only way to get the data it probably is possible to intercept the data and follow along to see how they are doing.
None of it really matters, though, because the only reasonable target for a nuke is a big city and no enemy would do us the favor of $Trillions of improvements.
Why don’t we put THAD on aN AIRCRAFT CARRIER and simultaneously accidentally of coutse...test our antimissle system. Trump could profusely apologize for aciidentally shooting all 3 test missle down.
Kim Jong Un got the memo from Xi Jin-Ping - “Raise a little hell and keep the Americans off balance.”
It is time, once again, for a bomber wing flyover of the North Korean peninsula.
“Trump could profusely apologize for aciidentally shooting all 3 test missle down.”
Or, thank the little fella for providing the targets for the drill. Then announce he is waiting to hear back from Tehran on whether they are going to provide any targets for the ABM drill.
Maybe, more like little Kim trying to get the world to pay him attention. He wants sanctions lifted and Trump has put off several US/South Korean exercises until Kim started bucking on de-nuking.
Right now our biggest problem is Kim saw how we kept our word on leaving foreign leaders alone who gave up their nuclear ambitions when Obama/Hillary reneged on our agreement with Qaddafi in Libya and he got to take the dirt nap. Had that not happened we could possible say Kim, hand them over, let the UN inspect at will, we pull out of the South and only sign a mutual defense pact with the South and leave you to your own vices. After Libya he knows the next kook in the White House may say, we are not following our obligations with him. Obama/Hillary the gift that keeps on giving.
