Many people believe in non-violence. It is taught and revered in many religions, and many people believe the best way to stop ongoing violence is to witness against it. Historically, as difficult as it has been for those who do so, non-violent actions against violence have often proven successful.

The two women went outside in a very dangerous place in a very dangerous neighborhood to send a message, to give hope to others, and to try to change a pattern of violent behavior. They paid the ultimate price.

They deserve our respect for their commitment, bravery, and willingness to endanger themselves for what they thought might save other lives. They have joined the hundreds of thousands of other Americans who gave their lives to create, improve, or protect our nation, or the lives of other people around the world.

Hopefully their sacrifice will motivate others to work harder to stamp out the violence that plagues their neighborhood.

Poor ladies...they didn’t get the email.

1. The south side isn’t worth saving.

2. It can’t be saved.

No offense, but that’s a load of bullshit, right there.

Thanks for saying that. This is an incredibly sad story. It's hard enough being the mother of 4 kids. Having to pull guard duty to try to protect them makes it all the harder.
