Are you going to Italy to start a fight or are you going to have a good time and see some of the most beautiful art and countryside and enjoy fine food? The Italians are nice people whatever their politics.
Given that another American kid is under arrest in Italy for killing someone, I’d try to have a little respect.
How about:
“My Dad Bombed Your Country in WWII and All I got was this lousy cap!”
Oh, son! Yer a man o’ learnin’ jes lak Ah taught ya!
Signed,Yer Maw.
P.S.: Write occasionally if’n it’s with ony with a crayon!)
In this sign you will conquer
> My Dad Bombed Your Country in WWII and All I got was this lousy cap!
Heheh. Sadly my dad passed away a few years too late to get a charge out of that one... and it would only apply to the 8th AAF theatre of ops, not the 15th...
A bit irritable are we... FWIW I was not aware of that and anyways even if I was, IMHO it is balanced out by Italy’s treatment of the girl falsely convicted of murder in Italy a few years ago. I was thinking about old times, being welcomed as i was (young, poor, alone, american) in portofino, and getting cabin fever on a cruise ship. So stand down.
That is very kind of you yarddog, but I’m in North Calif.
aha ya, i remember reading about that now. thanks.
as an aside, i’ve seen some folks wear pro 2A hats on cruise ships with no apparent repercussions (though the consideration remains guns are always screened for in killing zones). i have one that i have not found courage to wear anywhere yet (hello from california).
With or without a cap, most American tourists stand out as American tourists, particularly in Italy. Could be the because they are fatter than most Italians, walk like weebles, wear fanny packs, wear l9go athletic shoes, pull their pants up to their neck (men) and tuck in their shirts, and think that talking louder in English will bridge the language barrier. Most Americans that we have observed in Europe are an embarrassment.
In Hoc, my brother. In hoc.
RLTW
Making abject fools of themselves trying to act like they own the place when they are only guests in someone else's country.
ya, how about if i grow a beard, dye my hair, lose a couple of pounds, hump a kelty backpack with a tent and sleeping bag, carry a swiss army knife, stay out of restaurants and hotels, and eat nothing but bread, cheese and wine?
((dayum, ima doin this sometime anaways lol))
love it
i have lived and worked in europe in the past, so i can swing either way lol
Nope. Just don’t be an a-hole or dress like you are going to Disney World.
omg, thanks for the insights
(you go to disney world?) (who knew?)
lol
