I remember being pressured to do similar. I think it was for United Way at work. Knowing what I know now, if I had to do it again, I’d refuse. They rely on peer pressure (we gotta make it 100%) to suck us all in. You don’t want to be the 1 person who ruins the it for the rest by not making it 100%, do you? Well, yeah, now I do.

I refused when I worked in Human Resources for a large company. Our department ran the fundraiser and the director wanted 100% participation. I could designate where I wanted my money to go so it would not go to the offensive Planned Parenthood but United Way gives X percent of what is raised to PP regardless of where my $ goes. I have a problem with that. Probably affected my merit reviews, etc.

yikes...sounds like we worked at the same place. Same thing happened to me in the later 60’s @ Monkey Wards.
They got so desperate they asked me to donate $1.00. They got nothing...
