I'm a millennial, ask me anything.

After some thought on the generation gap appearing in today's society, I have decided to reach out to some of you to get a wider dialogue. Here are some basics about me:

- 24 years old (been a Free Republic member since 2014)

- served in the regular Army for five years (Arabic linguist), I've been out for a year

- one more semester of a bachelors' degree in international relations, plan to attend grad school for linguistics in spring, have a few computer science online certificates

- working for now as a rent-a-cop for $12/hr part-time, I live with my father

- I'd like to do some linguistics-related work, interested in Middle Eastern and Caucasian languages specifically. I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science

- I'd describe myself as a right-leaning nationalist, and not as much a libertarian anymore. Socially, I am more on the conservative side

Can't wait to see what y'all have to talk about, thanks.

You’re Generation Z (Post Millennial), you are not a Millennial at all. Mllennials, were all born from 1980 to 1991 Gen Z 1992 to 2001

“ I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science.”

What exactly is that?

You grow wiser.

There may be a place for you among my people.

My take of millennials (as a father of them):

They're polarized in almost every issue. I don't mean "polarized" in the bastardized way we use the term (i.e. arguing over politics). I mean most millennials do things that are rarely half-way. For instance, they're either staunch Christians who don't cuss and who are saving themselves for marriage, or they're vulgar regular party goers who identify as atheists and who engage in sex with lots of partners (sometimes simultaneously). When I was their age there were a lot more of the middle-ground (i.e. going to church and calling themselves Christians, but doing a little partying too and engaging in a little pre-marital).

And it's the same with money habits. (Many millennials are part of the Financial Independence Retire Early FIRE mentality, or they have spending habits worse than my ex-wife, few kinda in the middle). Same with drug habits (few just doing a little pot, they're either not doing drugs at all or they're hooked on heroin or meth). Same with physical fitness. Same with work ethics. Just about everything.

And another thing: they hang out with each other and get along with people who think 100% different. Again, when I was their age us goody-two-shoers didn't have many party going friends, nor did the partiers have many sold-out-to-Jesus friends (though we both had friends who were in the middle). The millennials have tons of friends who think opposite of them, they get along with each other well, and they don't argue about their habits like people who feel like they have to defend themselves.

Ulmius, does that sound right? That's how I see the millennials in Alabama.

Respectfully disagree, zoomers don’t remember 9/11. I was in first grade when it happened. Other people use 1996 as the start year for z (I’m 95, and my parents were ‘63, right at the end of the baby boom)

if a man drank a quart of buttermilk before he started

and ran a mile before he farted

and the faster he runs the farther he gets

how far does he run before he sh!ts?

Another thing Nationalist and Nationalism is to fully embrace the “State” meaning that the state is god in full incarcerate.
When you call yourself a right leaning nationalist you’re basically calling yourself a Nationalist Socialist.
American Conservatives embrace Americanism American exceptionalism and American Republicanism we believe in the fully Sovereignty of God and Jesus Christ.
We reject the state and all it stands for.

You keep you can up with your little song and dance as well as your larking in calling yourself a “Millennial” until hell freezes over but it still won’t change anything at all.
