After some thought on the generation gap appearing in today's society, I have decided to reach out to some of you to get a wider dialogue. Here are some basics about me:
- 24 years old (been a Free Republic member since 2014)
- served in the regular Army for five years (Arabic linguist), I've been out for a year
- one more semester of a bachelors' degree in international relations, plan to attend grad school for linguistics in spring, have a few computer science online certificates
- working for now as a rent-a-cop for $12/hr part-time, I live with my father
- I'd like to do some linguistics-related work, interested in Middle Eastern and Caucasian languages specifically. I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science
- I'd describe myself as a right-leaning nationalist, and not as much a libertarian anymore. Socially, I am more on the conservative side
Can't wait to see what y'all have to talk about, thanks.
What is the average yearly rainfall in the Amazon Basin?
Seeing this thread, all I can say is best of luck :)
No more states, we need to work with what we have (PR needs to stay a territory or shut up and become independent)
I do not support a draft at all. It brings in conscripts who serve no purpose in a peacetime army, and theres enough deadwood as it is
If he told you, he'd have to kill you.
Conformity is not truth young man. And btw when I was your age I was once so far to the Left it was a wonder I didn’t fall over. That was forty years ago.
Keyboard spew alert
Dont worry, I get what you mean.
I dont know if Ill be independent yet. If I go the full academic route, I guess Ill be a slave to the universities. If not, I may be a ward of the public sector.
Ive absolutely resigned to it. Boomers grew up in a period of artificial prosperity made possible by victory in war and by their country becoming the top dog. Globalization makes things different now. I think we could do something about it once the housing bubble bursts again
No haha, I was a total pogue. I did fire a 240B once though
I'm curious as to why you think your desired skillset would be valuable in Eastern Europe and the Middle East?

I’m thinking it’s more ‘out there’ than up there, depending on perspective.
Hmmmmm. I'll ponder it. I can sprout an awesome soul patch when I wanna.
I drive an 01 Toyota Tacoma I got for five grand. Love that thing
Simple, I dont listen to top 40, I opt instead for Bandcamp and YouTube videos of 80s-90s Soviet synthwave. Decentralization of media is a beautiful thing.
So. Does a house burn up or does a house burn down?
No questions, just want to thank you for your service, and wish you the best of what life offers.
Nice truck.
You are wise, grasshopper.
Now snatch the pebble from my hand.
How do you get down off an elephant?
To show the possum it could be done ...
That reminds me about this one time....
