After some thought on the generation gap appearing in today's society, I have decided to reach out to some of you to get a wider dialogue. Here are some basics about me:
- 24 years old (been a Free Republic member since 2014)
- served in the regular Army for five years (Arabic linguist), I've been out for a year
- one more semester of a bachelors' degree in international relations, plan to attend grad school for linguistics in spring, have a few computer science online certificates
- working for now as a rent-a-cop for $12/hr part-time, I live with my father
- I'd like to do some linguistics-related work, interested in Middle Eastern and Caucasian languages specifically. I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science
- I'd describe myself as a right-leaning nationalist, and not as much a libertarian anymore. Socially, I am more on the conservative side
Can't wait to see what y'all have to talk about, thanks.
Thank you for your service. As to your premise, frankly, it would probably be a great deal more interesting to be able to ask questions of a leftist millennial (providing he gave sincere answers). I know I’d love to be able to disabuse one, of his wrong-headed views.
Ive never deployed.
As a private citizen, I think many in the service are wondering when the next big engagements going to be, and a lot of them are sick of social engineering.
Never saw a trans service member, though there were a lot of homosexuals. We did have a briefing about the gender reassignment stuff which many thought was bull. Homosexuals are usually fine to serve with, I had a few decent ones as NCOs. This was because they kept it to themselves and were hospitable to us. Dont know much about trans attitudes, probably because people didnt want to bring it up.
What do you think of homeschoolers.
I homeschooled 3 millenials and one z.
I am having second thoughts.
Number 1 gave me two of my best wives. It can be tricky though.
My son says dating now is grim, everyone thinks that someone better might be just one swipe away.
Thinking of perusing pulling together a dating service. Slow dating. no electronics permitted.
The one that were all lefties, like the youth media is pushing on us.
We dont have our own forms of expression and always borrow from the old, probably.
Why aren’t you in IT making some buck$?

If you ever meet Larry in person, ask him about Old Home Days.
The changes can be demographics and engineering, but mostly the former. Hearing what my peers in europe are saying is really sobering, many of them are minorities in their own communities now. Its going to take a few more decades for these changes to have a significant voice politically. The main demographic change that will signal the struggle will be when the boomers die off or become politically and economically incapacitated. Then the galvanization of society will surely surface.
Effort is discouraged because we dont want to waste our efforts on foregone conclusions. Since fewer workers are retiring, upward mobility is being hampered. Since pensions are becoming less of a certainty, job loyalty is being downplayed. Many of us live under the assumption that you must play the game for yourself to win, and that attempts to sacrifice this will be taken advantage of.
Mass indoctrination will switch modes if Trumps momentum is gained upon.
My son has a german girl who would like to emigrate on his list of friends, and my daughter’s in laws have a raft of people from the low countries who have married in.
The Rolling Stones, all the way
It would balance the perspective for sure.
Ive wanted to homeschool my children, preferably with an education emphasizing the Greek model of the trivium and the quadrivium, at least until high school. I dont really know what that would entail in reality, though.
what is your perspective of peers homeschooled?
Church is the best solution I can think of, though not perfect.
Fewer men want to get married anyway, none of us want to be divorce-raped. Ive seen it happen to my best friend.
Im actually waiting to hear back from a job offer now concerning a data science position, and thats why Im waiting. I want to learn linguistics though, and thats why Im applying for grad school.
