Bump
Vitamin D is not an authentic vitamin; it is a corticosteroid hormone.
The EFAs (Linoleic, 18:2/w6, and Alpha-Linolenic Acid, 18:3/w3) are functional vitamins; their derivatives (GLA/w6, EPA/w3, DHA/w3) are not (but are beneficial, like many non-essential amino acids).
Cholecalciferol is made in the skin from D precursor in response to full-spectrum light. The EFA derivatives are made through an ascending enzymatic series, starting with Delta-6-Desaturase.
Anything that can be made in a healthy body from a healthful diet should not be called a vitamin.
However, the term, vitamin, is largely political, controlled by the FDA, USDA, et al.
Scientists tried to have the Wulzen Anti-Stiffness (anti-arthritis) Factor declared a vitamin in the 1940s, but the USDA quashed it, because they did not want to admit that the lucrative Pasteurization process (fees, fines) destroyed a valuable nutrient in raw milk fat.
The Wulzen Factor is another corticosteroid hormone, but a plant-source one (from green grass, hence a benefit of “grass fed”).
The Weston Price X-Factor, also rich in grass-fed milk fat, is another authentic vitamin - one finally recognized as K2.
The AMA and Big Pharma do not profit from healthy people who do not need them. The Federal agencies are on their side, not ours.
Follow the money. Always.
Will there be an executive summary coming soon?
The researcher only mentions the gut in a single instance.
Supplements are not bioavailable without healthy gut flora.
If a person cannot convert/absorb what’s taken in, deficiency results and no amount of supplementation will change that fact.
This is the 2nd thing I’ve read today that reads like plugging a water leak with bubble gum.
I submit that the researcher is rather myopic (wrong field and/or lacking collaborating researchers) and/or ignorant of basic biological facts.
Like my damned doctor.
And clearer what’s missing.
You get the rubber hose for that.
This reminds me of the book I am reading The Martian. He has all the vitamin supplies he needs but has the problem of growing enough food.

You’re kidding, right? :)
I’d rather just age lousy than read this medical encyclopedia.
Besides in the end a lot of it is gene.
I’m a fat ####. I was an even WORSE fat #### only last year and four years ago (gained it back then lost it again so im back at fat #### status and not REALLY fat #### status)
My glucose is fine. My triglycerides are fine. My cholesterol was about 20 points high.
I’m a human garbage pail.
I’m “only” 51 so it will catch up with me I guess.
Trying to lose more and get down to just fat ## (just 2 ##s) :)
Thanks for that info.
OK. Other than cost, what is the difference between Pharmacy Grade and Food Grade vitamins?
Didn't we all evolve getting all of the vitamins we need from FOOD, or did Oog the caveman have pharmacies that have not survived in the archeological record?
A valid point. Hippocrates said to look to the gut for the cause of disease. (He would be denied a Medical Degree in today’s environment.)
Many people see trees, not the forest.
To be fair, the modern use of the scientific method promotes that approach: isolating a variable, rather than looking at the whole.
The S.M. is a tool, not a god. It has limitations. I garnered my share of science awards in my academic days. I respect it; I do not worship it. (Or, to paraphrase Spock: It makes a good servant, but a bad master.)
Leaky Gut Syndrome, in my opinion, is central to all sorts of systemic conditions, including auto-immune.
Therefore, healing the gut, through fasting, and non-/anti-inflammatory diet, is key to reversing many chronic conditions.
Bookmark for later since its such a long read here and I can go to the original article and get the same thing.
Thanks for posting, Believe that I’m going to have to return to absorb all of this.
I'll have to do some research.
Hi Dave, just did a quick check myself re: Pharmaceutical Grade

Dr. Sandra Kaufmann is putting her scientific mind to work and came up with her protocol for anti-aging.
