.MY JUNGLE ROT HISTORY:

1968, Nystatin anti fungal, Triamcinolone Acetonide is an anti inflammatory. Rx. Controlled but never totally, the anti inflammatory may have been covering the symptoms?

~2010 Lamisil (Terbinafine) Worked well and quickly,(a few days), but never totally eliminating the symptoms.

June 2018 Dermatologist Rx Tacrolimus Ointment 1% Very slowly brought it under control(one month plus) 100% clear after ~twelve weeks total. Occasional symptoms and reapplication...

May 2019 With the warm weather(?) it started to BLOOM!!!

Reviewing the many recommendations and reading around, I selected four Walmart OTC anti-fungal products and a cheap low pH soap/wash.

First up, Clotrimazole Cream USP 1%. WORSE THAN ZERO!!! In four days the dreaded purple spots appeared! Reverted to Lamisil in AM, at mid day added Nystatin Rx for the itching ;only one application. Worked well! After one week of Lamisil cream twice daily, controlled but not gone.

Miconazole Nitrate 2% (Desenex power) twice daily. After ten days, almost clear and the purple spots are lightening up. Still not gone.

Tolnaftate 1% OTC Spray Powder (Equate) twice daily. After four days looking good!, ten days GONE and the purple spots are very light. NICE! After two weeks , a long hot day, mid range workout 1 hour plus average heart rate 80% plus lots of sweat, towel off and change, cut grass one hour plus (95F) more sweat, take grand kids for two mile walk(90F), take dogs for three mile spin (80F), shower. Minor symptoms reappeared and subsiding after two days. GREAT!

Notes: Cannot recall the last time I had ‘athlete's foot’?, many years.

My wife and our children never had the rot. Nor the dogs.

All about the rot. https://www.aafp.org/afp/2003/0101/p101.html

Comparison study's. https://www.cochranelibrary.com/es/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD009992.pub2/pdf/full/es

About 15% of the population of the United Kingdom have fungal infections

Tolnaftate was developed in 1962 by Nippon Soda Company in Japan. It was soon brought to the United States by Schering Corporation (now owned by Bayer), who trademarked it as Tinactin

How tolnaftate works isn’t completely understood. It’s believed to inhibit an important enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of ergosterol (a key component in the fungal membrane).

Tolnaftate showed activity with (0.06 μg/ml)------ microgram/mL  ----- 0.06 microgram/mL = 0.06 part per million against all dermatophyte isolates**** NOTE: in vitro testing. ***NOTE: 1% tolnafate EQUALS 10,000 PPM.

Ever try Lotrimin for athlete’s foot? Works great.

What will really get me interested is when someone really ends up with a cure for toe-nail “fungus” which is apparently a deeply embedded infection that screws up your toenails. Right now, the only true cure apparently is surgery which has it own problems.

Very nice. I think a lot of vets and doctors could be bankrupted by the cheap stuff on Walmarts shelves.

The fungus stuff is self feeding. It causes inflammation and then feeds on the excretions. To put a quick stop on the symptoms use cortisone-10 or calamine lotion in conjunction with your antifungal of choice. Continuous use of cortisone -10 can cause reaction also. use as per directions. In veterinary medicine they have combined cortisone-10 with a common antibiotic for quicker results. Same idea of reducing the cycle of inflammation except for bacteria.

Neither dial nor irish spring are considered mild soaps and can cause inflammation due to allergic reaction if not thoroughly rinsed.

I had it on my second tour, had old ma send me a dozen bars of Felds Namptha lye soap.

Burned like hell initially but it never came back.

Just as an aside, Dial and Irish Spring are not soap. Get real soap made with traditional soap ingredients, including fats such as cocnut oil or beef tallow.

I started using it instead of commercial bar "soap" (Old Spice), and a dermatitis I had on my hands and arms from an industrial coolant I came into contact with completely disappeared, with no other treatment. Obviously, for a fungus, you'd still need those medications, but I think real soap is much better at keeping the skin healthy than the industrial stuff they sell today.

The Best Soap For Sensitive Skin—2019 Reviews And Top Picks

From my experience, Basis is a great mild soap. Manufactured and distributed by Beiersdorf Inc, located in Winston, Connecticut. Sold by various retailers, including Walgreen's, Walmart and Amazon—I’ve even seen it in the Dollar Tree from time to time.

Also, eucalyptus is a known anti-fungal. Bouquets of it are found in craft stores that have a good floral section, like Michael’s or JoAnn Fabric. Hanging a bouquet of it in the bathroom where you normally bathe may help, since the smell of it (and its essential oil) remains active for years.

You can buy eucalyptus leaves as a tea, as a bath additive, as an essential oil; and also its oil is present in Vicks VapoRub, which when applied every day to fungal nails will slowly heal them (clean with soap and water followed by a Listerine rinse before applying the Vicks and a clean sock).

I bought a fungicidal soap at Wal-Mart. This and antifungal cream seem to be improving mine. Never had any success before during the summer months.

Well I’m glad you’re doing better. As I said previously the Mometasone Furoate cleared up the spot on my right leg permanently and the scale in the hollow above my tailbone. I still have this right big toe fungus even after Tea Tree oil. It worked, but came back. I’ve been researching Colloidal Silver all day. I think I may give this stuff a shot. Maybe even use this in a nebulizer with Mullein and Lobelia now that I have lung problems (VA Induced?) My breathing stops now sometimes even before I go to sleep. What a terrifying experience.

Don’t forget a treatment for toenail fungus - it takes a lot longer to get rid of and can exacerbate/rejuvenate other foot “ailments”...most of the ones at Walmart work...but one has to be diligent and patient and go for a minimum 6 month treatment plan.

I was interested in your original thread because I deal with this problem.
One of the posters discounted tea tree oil as something you could not use as a treatment because our problem is “to serious” for natural treatment.
I saw who that poster was and recognised it was someone who is either a troll or wrong about most everything.
To make a long story short, because of this, I tried it.
Thank you TG!
Two days of applying tea tree oil to my rash left me symptom free for almost a month.
You may want to give it a try. It’s over the counter and not that expensive.
