Robservations on the media beat:
Courtney Gousman
Is this a racist image? The depiction of a noose over an automobiles gas tank cover prompted a reporter for Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9 to say it made her sick to my stomach. Saw this on the way home from work and it made me furious, afraid, and sick to my stomach, Courtney Gousman wrote on Twitter and Facebook Sunday. Given the history of the noose and how it was used to murder black Americans, this image speaks volumes no matter how its explained away because its plastered on a gas tank. #wideawake. When a white reader suggested Gousman was just looking for a reason to be mad, she replied: The depiction of a noose was clear enough gas pump or not. There are plenty of other symbols that could have accomplished this besides this hateful reminder.
Im thinking it may be neeses...or is that the sausage?
Didn’t Jussie Smollett wear one like a necktie or something?
No no, “neese’s” would be the possessive form of “neese”.
Hum.
I am from the South and in the South currently, and I have never heard of or seen that brand.
Superb list of ingredients, I want some!
Also excellent correlation of this product to the possible plural form of “noose” :D
Feel free to double check me, but I do know that it was almost universally true for virtually every American university campus that the second-lowest average GPA and SAT students went to the School of Education... which was disheartening when I was looking for schools to start my Education degree (but also encouraging, since my scores were in the top percentiles).
While I took that information for what it was, I also wanted to know which School was the lowest... and again, on almost every campus in the US, it was the School of Journalism that was at the bottom. I doubt anything has changed in the last 25 years. The Schools of Art, Liberal Arts, Performance and Dance, Physical Education, etc were always in the middle tier... and of course, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Dentistry, Engineering, Math and Sciences, and Computer Science were always the upper echelons. They'd switch which was above another... but it was always Education and then Journalism at the bottom of the barrel.
Average SAT scores for different Schools/Majors for all American universities, 2014
1748 - Multiple-disciplines (2+ majors)
1683 - Physical Sciences
1681 - Mathematics
1663 - Social Sciences
1659 - English
1633 - Foreign Languages
1620 - Engineering
1618 - Biology
1614 - Humanities/Liberal Arts
1600 - Undecided
1590 - Theology/Religious studies
1579 - Computer Sciences
1550 - History
1550 - Ethnic Studies
1524 - Journalism and Communication
1489 - Performing Arts
1484 - Psychology
1438 - Education... their scores dropped even more since I left, apparently. ;)
Note... some of us are old, and we remember our 1500+ SAT scores with pride... being 1500+ out of a possible 1600 (two sections of 800)... today, the SAT has 3 sections, and thus a perfect score is 2400, not 1600. All these scores are out of 2400. No major has an average score above 600 on any section (math, reading, writing)
Also note... Journalism majors are the only ones in the Top 20 with a Math average score under 500. They also carry the lowest Critical Reading score of any major above them. They also feature a Writing score that only tops 3 other majors above them (Theology, Ethnic Studies, and History).

Fake racism causes her to feel sick on her stomach. How does REAL racism by black gangs on innocent defenseless white people make her feel. Just this week we had a gang of blacks beat, stomp and spit on white tourists in DC, unprovoked. Sick is not the feeling I have. More like anger.
Can’t even turn off the adblocker and get to that page.
It’s an anti-oil icon from a book about the end of cheap oil.
Some people want to see racism in everything I suppose.
I'm frankly surprised no one's complained about marshmallow's being white, toilet paper being white, etc.. etc.. etc..

Those who can, do.
Those who can’t, teach.
Those who can’t teach, become journalists...............
I don’t particularly like the word ‘jouranalist’ as it’s used today. Kipling was a ‘journalist. Hemingway was a ‘journalist’. Murrow was a ‘journalist’. Even Cronkite was a ‘journalist’.
Today’s crop of ne’er-do-well Neanderthals are just plain old ‘reporters’...................
