I wouldn’t be too hard on him OR the Guard. I remember vividly the day the 150 of 500 of us who survived our FIRST morning at Jump School only to be taken into a field in Georgia in the hot July sun where we did push ups all afternoon. The UH-1s were orbiting overhead to take the fallen to the hospital. And there WERE fallen. 13 of us. While the cadre walked around saying, “Anyone who wants to leave should do so now. All you have to do is stand up.” The Lieutenant next to me wouldn’t let himself give up so his body had a seizure. I KNOW only too well what it takes to drive on and have no loss of respect for those who stand up when their body can’t keep up with their spirit. Of the 130 plus a few that were left almost all of us got our wings. But you had to survive that day (and another month of pure hell). But after that day no one was willing to relinquish that investment in ordeal.
Sure, there are screw ups that should never have been there. Like the E-6 who showed up 5 days late. We were asked to let him join us and we let him. Then he fell out on the first run on Monday morning. They made him stand at the roadside and watch us run by every morning for the remainder fo the week before they let him go back to his unit.
No way to tell which camp your boy fell into but it really doesn’t matter. That’s on him, not you.
Horrifying. This reads like a chapter out of “Odd Thomas”.
ANY place selling human body parts needs supervision... take some of the money wasted on illegals and use it to protect the dignity of American citizens.
Actually this has been going on for a while.
All you people who are donors think that your parts are going to help some soul. And the occaional does,
But the bodies get sold to chop shops that cut them up and sell to labs and educiaon facilities.
So a plastic surgeon takes a workshop in a new eyelife technique? Goes to a workshop with 75 other plastic surgeons when they all sit in front of cadaver heads on stands and practice the new little money maker moves.
There was a book called City of God which followed a poor Indian rickshaw driver to his death and paying the mortgage of his life by having his bones boiled to make skeletons for med schools. India passed laws against that right after the book came out.
At least the rickshaw driver was paid.
Send him to the outward bound wilderness 30 day programs. One in the upper Peninsula of Michigan.
There is no getting out.

I don’t know either Morgana. Just when I think I’ve seen the bottom of the barrel, the barrel gets deeper. At some point, we’re going to have to deal effectively with the demented people who do these things. Effectively to me is putting them up against the wall and double tapping them.

A fellow I dated in college died of cancer & donated his body to a medical school.
His body ended up sometime later as part of an exhibition, like this one:

I went, out of morbid fascination, not knowing he was part of it. Nearly fainted when I saw his clearly recognizable, intact head.
His torso & thighs had skin peeled to reveal muscles, etc.
I believe I had an “out of body” experience myself for a moment.
