5g will be fast but very problematic. Distance, walls are the enemy among other things. It’s pretty erratic so devices will need a Lot of caches for all the misses and retries.

My take is that 5g is not so much new technology but a lot more antennas which means smaller cells and more re-use of frequencies which means higher bandwidth for each frequency in a given small cell.

It also means big brother will know more precisely where our devices are. 5g gives big brother more. It may give us a little more.

Those in the boonies will be just fine with existing cellular technologies.
