Ex-Porsche owner here, may get another one, or this; I’ll be keeping my current mid engine car though, regardless.

Maybe this is why they added weight the the rear?

Remind your Corvette-owning buddies that Zora Arkus-Duntov intended for the Corvette to be mid-engined, and there’s no higher Corvette authority. This is merely the realization of that dream, now that the engineering can match the vision.

I watched Youtube videos on the snap oversteer problem on C6-C7 Corvettes.
Hard to say if going mid engine is going to solve it.
More HP is for sure not going to solve it.

Oversteer is better then understeer IMO. Oversteer is normal to me.

Can I get a class 3 hitch for it?

Really? That is the most gawd awful rear end of any high performance car ever. Who authorized such a busy convoluted design? A past C4 and C6 owner.

It looks like a bulldog’s painted face.
What a horror.

I’ve read parts of articles to my dw. I’ve shown beautiful pics to her. I told her today the price is less than $ 60000. A few minutes later she said she would need something to lift her out. I then asked her what ever made her think she would get in it. Gotta rethink my methods.

I’ve owned Porsches in my younger days. All this angst because GM produces a retail mid-engine Vette is hysterically funny. Reminds me of when Porsche came out with its first water-cooled street car which was a front engine rear drive model. If you were a trad Porsche addict, you’d have thought the company had sold out to the Russians. Over the years, I’ve owned a ‘65 356 C coupe and three 914’s. The major regret is not buying a friend’s 1970 914-6 that had its motor rebuilt to 1967 911S specs and then blueprinted. I could have gotten it for $5,000 since he had been busted for cocaine possession and needed bail money. That was the most entertaining and sweet sounding Porsche I ever got to drive.

"It looks like a bulldog’s painted face. What a horror."

They need a new design team and whatever executive authorized this monstrosity. Put a Lambo, Ferrari, McClaren, Bugoti next to it and you will see the over-design of the body. Are they still going to make a hatchback for those who want some trunk space?

What are they working on next?

I live in S.E. Michigan and on three different occasions I have seen the same vehicle on the expressway by me. I mention this because it is the size of an SUV but totally covered in a protective cloth or leather from front to rear with only the windshield and side windows not covered and a spot for the rear license plate.

I have to believe that it is a new body design vehicle by one of the auto companies, likely Ford or Chrysler since it was headed in the direction of several dealerships about two miles away....

It was certainly strange to see tho.....

I should have said that, IMHO, the new Corvette is not a “pure” sports car. To my way of thinking and preference, a pure sports car isn’t some heavy, mega-horsepowered beast, handles like it is on rails without a lot electronic correction and sports a manual transmission.

It has plenty of trunk space already for a sports/super car.

I had a 68 Chevy Corvair, it was great in the snow, couldn't be stopped.

Driving on the PA Turnpike one night in 1969, the gas line split and gas poured out on the rear mounted engine.

When I saw the fire in my rear view mirror, I pulled off the road, got my wife and then 2 yutes out of the car ran down the road, and watched it burn and then the gas tank blew.

Never had any interest in a rear mounted motor after that, I know it's silly, but can't he'p it.
