Yeah, the flicker is annoying. I don’t understand why they do it. Maybe it increases life or something. I suppose it would cut power consumption.

Maybe the ones that flicker are defective?

I had one did that, replaced it, and no problem.

I have LEDs in my bathroom. What I have noticed is that they will flicker at times, but if I run the hair dryer, they stop flickering and are actually a bit brighter. The dryer loads the circuit which drops the voltage a little, so they must like the lower voltage.

Strange.

Higher end LEDs cycle at 120 Hz.

The cheap ones cycle at 60 Hz.

LEDs are flashing, as do old light bulbs and fluorescents. However, tungsten in old light bulbs never cooled between bursts, while fluorescents stimulate gases that do shimmer, but still allow for a form of light continuity.

LEDs are strobe light equivalents. You want 120 Hz refresh, and life is then good.

LEDs flicker as the AC current switches polarity. Unavoidable unless enough ac to dc rectification occurs but that makes a bulb more costly and bulky.
