Dyatlov pass is not anywhere near Kyshtym. They had radiation traces on them being the students of tech University.

Unfortunately Chernobyl’s creator/writer Craig Mazin is a progressive, a climate change alarmist, pro-abortion, a time-Christian. You name it..he also happens to be Senator Ted Cruz’s freshman roommate at Princeton...they didn’t get along on a personal level. Though that is understandable. Pretty nifty how successful they both got though.
Anyway Mazin believes the show is as much a cautionary tale on TRUMP (or about religious institutions) — as it is about the Soviet power structure. And again it’s the Soviet power structure and execution of ideals he critiques, not the inherent evil of socialism itself.
Bernie Sanders tries to put things this way as he defends ‘democratic socialism’ as distinct from Stalinism or something like that.

Chernobyl happened in large part because Stalinism created a culture where everybody was afraid to tell the truth.

I first became aware of the Kyshtym explosion after reading about it in “Midnight in Chernobyl.” Up to that time, I hadn’t heard of it. And I hadn’t heard about the Dyatlov Pass explorers until you made this reply, so you’re farther ahead than me on all of this. I just read a brief article of the incident, and it is extremely chilling. Fractured skulls, broken ribs, and some of the other injuries don’t seem to be consistent with Acute Radiation Poisoning, but then, I’m no expert. I watched a TV series, read a book, and didn’t stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. I appreciate you’re bringing the Dyatlov Pass incident to my attention. Now you’ve sparked my interest.
The biggest problem with current nuclear power is that it relies on an understanding of nuclear physics, safety, and automation current about 50 years ago.
A truly modern reactor design can't melt down or cause hydrogen fires...nor is water needed for cooling.
I did not see that at all. In fact the show clearly ponts out how the West (usa) does not build reactors in this way. The west uses containment buildings etc. Its pointed out the soviets dont do this because its cheaper. Again the writer makes it clear the danger is socialisms inability to build nuclear reactors in a safe manner like can be done in the capitalist west.
what examples can you cite where this series was an indictment on nuclear power as practiced in the west? I did not see any.

Both those quotes pretty much say the same thing. Socialism is a society structured on lies and the failure of rational thinking humans to confront the insanity.
Well, this is very weird. You mentioned the Dyatlov Pass mystery, and so I ordered the book “Death of Nine: The Dyatlov Pass Mystery” by Launton Anderson. It came today. Just skimmed through it. Last night I recorded the first episode of “The Unexplained” on the History Channel. It’s hosted by William Shatner. Now the part that’s weird is that one of the segments on the program is about the Dyatlov Pass mystery. They never touched on the Kyshtym explosion, or radiation of any kind at the site. They mentioned a belief of the Mansi Tribe in a monster whose howl could tear people apart with its voice. And they presented a recent theory that the possible cause of the deaths was because of high winds in that area, along with the topography, which can cause a low frequency sound like a hum, or what’s called infrasound, which is just below our normal hearing. It can cause pressure waves, eyes vibrate, can cause psychosis, and some people can see shadows out of the corners of their eyes, especially in desolate areas, like where the hikers were. They cited incidents on the Mir Space Station where Russian Cosmonauts exposed to vibrations developed psychosis, and in one instance, one cosmonaut pulled a knife on another cosmonaut due to psychosis brought on by exposure to these vibrations.
