Unfortunately Chernobyl’s creator/writer Craig Mazin is a progressive, a climate change alarmist, pro-abortion, a time-Christian. You name it..he also happens to be Senator Ted Cruz’s freshman roommate at Princeton...they didn’t get along on a personal level. Though that is understandable. Pretty nifty how successful they both got though.
Anyway Mazin believes the show is as much a cautionary tale on TRUMP (or about religious institutions) — as it is about the Soviet power structure. And again it’s the Soviet power structure and execution of ideals he critiques, not the inherent evil of socialism itself.
Bernie Sanders tries to put things this way as he defends ‘democratic socialism’ as distinct from Stalinism or something like that.
