Our DMV has seats and a take a number thing ,you sit there and enjoy the free entertainment of all the people coming and going ,LOL
The DMV in Tijeras has more clerks than customers. Can’t recall waiting more than 5 minutes. Serves me right for going at lunchtime.

Same here. I was just at our BMV last week. My number was 66, and they were just in the 40’s, so I waited over an hour. Like you, I just people-watched. Ours was like the bar scene from Star Wars — all that was missing was the music! LOL!!
Had to enjoy the entertainment last year. Everyone there was speaking Spanish except one angry loud mouth from CA. By the time I got home, I was itching from head to foot. A regular shower didn’t help. It took a shower with dog flea shampoo to finally kill the little creepy crawlies. Washed and dried my clothes twice.
Don’t know why the line is so slow. It took me all of 3 minutes to hand in my paperwork and read the sight test and hand the guy my check. Zip, zip, adios.
Our DMVs have foreigners lined up out the door and around the corner of the building. They bring their own folding chairs and umbrellas for the all day wait. I think they enjoy it.
Ours, too. But sometimes it’s an hour or more wait. There’s a town about a 15 minute drive away. Never seen more than one other person in there. A friend said he went there one time and he was the only one there, with two smiling people behind the counter, waiting to help. What kind of way is that to run a State office?
Same deal in rural AZ. Bad back to the point I can't walk 100 yds without having to sit down. A trip to the VA in NV resulted in an application for a handicapped hanger.
Only problem the application wasn't accepted in AZ. The clerk "Sara" faxed the right one to my doc, who filled it out and faxed it back. The clerk called me up when it arrived.
Went down to pick it up and there's about 10 people ahead of me. She recognized me, called me over and gave me the hanger. WAY above what you'd expect from a state worker.
and the germs...just like the SS office.....colds and flu just waiting to be handed to you...
