They are crazy.
If they wanted to have a black woman plat a hero, they should write a story where it would make sense.
But to have her play James (or Jane) Bond in a JB movie is crazy.

She could kill an enemy agent by doing a flying side-kick with spiked heels with spikes, and with such balance and aplomb that she spills nary a drop of her dry, shaken not stirred martini.
I have 5 story outlines for a Jane Bond circa 2100, the great niece of the retired assassinated Bond and his wife. Jane joins as 005, after retaliating against the organization which killed her legendary relative. If shot soon, Connery could actually play the retired Bond.
IMO, if you watch all the Bond movies over and over, you can construct a plot outline on your own. The movies have become formulaic. I welcome new cast approaches and would like to see a retro Bond in the 50s with less tech. Maybe an HBO series or BBC. Time for the Brocolli Family to step aside for some new thinking.

We could see a new script come out that changes everything.
Given the history so far, though, I think the Powers That Be will go ahead with this "woke" idea. And lose all the original fans from the 60s. (Are there many of us left? Do we matter to them? Not many regular date nights in the Boomer age group anymore.)
Fans of Idris Elba have been hoping he got the job. (I’m not a fan but I read their fangirl posts on a busy FB Page for fans of British actors) Colorblind or genderblind casting never goes in the other direction.
Of course....female Bond is not believable...not to say that Bond movies are not off the credulity tracks anyway. The Bond movies got off the tracks big time by the 6th or 7th movie...
I certainly won’t be wasting either time or money watching their PC ruin of a once good franchise.
I have no problem with a black or woman bond and i can envision several ways to introduce the character. We are moving forward not backward in time. James Bond is dead by now or soon will be in real time. Elbe has presence and gravitas and he’s a good actor.
We could prefer a different Bond in each movie.
I would like to see an HBO series or BBC and go back to Fleming’s original concept. maybe 1945-1960. I’d name it Bond Begins.
