Simona Halep defeats Serena Williams in straight sets to take the Wimbledon Championship

Posted on 07/13/2019 7:07:51 AM PDT by Conserv

6-2, 6-2

Williams did her best primal screams, but it didn't matter. SHE LOST.... in straight sets.

Simona Halep:

The Williams Sisters took the grace and agility out of Women's Tennis and replaced it with a technique that requires raw power and now defines the sport.

The trophy presentation to Halep and her speech was inspiring. She thanked her family, her team and thanked her COUNTRY (Romania) for all they have done for her and their support. IT WAS A MAGIC MOMENT.

I’m so proud of Simona.

She lost her first 3 grand slam finals, but now she has a French Open and a Wimbledon.

Serena WAS very gracious in defeat. Well done. Such a difference from the disaster of the womens soccer team.

As usual? She’s one of the poorest and most ungracious sports in the history of tennis.

Even Serena knew she couldn’t get away with another fit.

Even going back to Helen Wills, much of her success was attributed to her “power”.

Margaret Court was one of the first to use systematic weight training to train for tennis. And Margaret Court had pregnancy after pregnancy and kept winning and winning.

One aspect of today’s match is that Halep is only 5’6” in an era of many very tall Amazons.

I wonder what Obama’s husband Michael thinks about such obvious racism.

Gracious? She was creamed by Halep, there wasn’t much else she could do but be gracious. What was gracious was Haleps comments during the trophy presentation, hope Serena as well as the soccer champs were watching. Halep thanked her family, team and her COUNTRY Romania for their support because they have done so much for her.

Ever hear gracious Serena do that? By the way, gracious Serena was fined 10,000.00 during a practice session for unsportsmanlike conduct. She damaged a court several days prior to the start of Wimbledon.

That is an outright lie. I don’t ever recall her being unsportsmanlike like when referring to her opponents, as I stated, she’s usually very gracious. She had a problem with a chair umpire, hardly makes her the most ungracious in the history of tennis. Plus, there seems to be a bit of a double standard regarding women’s outbursts during the game, as King pointed out. I agree with King.

Simona had exactly 3 unforced errors...

that’s the fewest unforced errors in a ladies’ singles final EVER.

See made it to the final, outperforming everyone else in the tournament except the lady who beat her. I’d hardly call that career over. In fact, you get a silver trophy for the accomplishment.
