I suspect that if Trump wins, these folks will go into “righteous indignation” mode and, in a very short time, wreak massive amounts of havoc. I also think law enforcement will be ready for them.

This is so typical. The idea is to create strife between the two “sides” so the federal government can come in and take even more control and abuse individual rights. People in government love this because they avoid scrutiny gain more power.
If the people in this county had any brains (and they of course don’t), they would stop this foolish and fake game of red team vs blue team. People of disparate views should realize that nearly all policy disputes could be solved if the federal government was radically restrained and downsized. We could have liberal states and conservative states.
The other thing that would take power away from the federal government is if states combined to form larger states. Ever notice how CA can get away with things that a small state can’t? It is interesting to note that the founders feared that large states would have too much power and challenge the federal government. Well the problem we have is the opposite: the states are very weak compared to the federal government.
We have seen maps of a divided America on many FR posts. We could retain a weak federal government (for defense and currency) with larger and stronger states. Sort of like dividing up the Roman empire. Although Canada has quote a few problems, they do have several proportionately larger provinces that actually can thwart federal efforts. Ontario, Quebec, BC, Alberta routinely give Ottawa the middle finger and it often works (whereas PEI and NB don’t have much pull).
I wonder if Bernstein would go for this (I doubt it which proves my point about what he really wants). He could have his very leftist utopian superstate in the Northeast.

You are correct. Tens years ago, talk of civil war on FR would have gotten at least a 3 day suspension, today it is every where.
I'm armed, but I was a medic in the Army and I know how much damage a single round from a 45 can do to the human body, and it is not a joke.
If necessary, we'd all probably get involved, but there will be no laughing and joking when TSHTF.
