Denise Nickerson, who played Violet in "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," is living out the last moments of her life, because her family tells us they have just taken her off life support.
Nickerson, who suffered a stroke last year, was at home Monday and, according to her family, she got into her meds at home and took as many as she could. Her family came to check on her shortly thereafter and rushed her to the ER.
Once in the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia. On Tuesday, she suffered a massive seizure and doctors put Denise on life support.

Some people will start a go fund me for anything. Not out of need but because they have an angle to get $.
Yes, the funeral homes are greedy.
I’ve written the checks for two cremations over the last 15 months (youngest sister and my twin brother).
$3600 is no ceremony, visitation, casket, or anything. Just an obit in the newspaper. They call you to pick up the ashes when completed.
FL cremations are much less expensive than most other places, maybe high volume?
In VA there’s a law that the body to be cremated has to be placed in a cardboard box that evaporates in the fire (we had to pay $375 for that box; the urn was another couple $hundred). Some of the funeral home expenses are absurd; others not so much.
When my husband died recently the funeral home people could not have been better, no hard sell at all. We told them we wanted the most basic arrangements through them**, a Mass at our church, and burial in an old family cemetery with tombstone made near that cemetery. No frills, just the way he’d want it.
**when they asked if we wanted an obit printed in the WaPo I assured them NO .. he’d die all over again if he thought we’d give them a nickel.
In my area of upstate NY a simple cremation - cardboard box for cremains - over $4000.
Heck, we had to PAY to donate my mothers body to a medical collage, where they would cremate here after they were done with her body. That cost us $400.00, the fee to transport her. They mailed her back in a cardboard type container.
My sympathy to everyone posting on this thread who has recently lost a loved one.
Very sad to see so many.
Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
It depends on where you live. In some states there are stupid rules.
In MA, I bought my mom the least expensive funeral possible. Just like you, no urn, no processing...just cremation.
$4,100.
(I did pay to open the grave to lay her next to my dad. And my daughter is making the urn—its really not much more than a sealed tea pot. (My daughter is a professional ceramicist, so it will be a nice tea pot.))
The only “option” was an obituary—which I might skip at this point, there is no one left that she could call a peer.
Which reminds me, it’s time for a femme centric Willie Wonka film
And Roald Dahl was one of the authors of the screenplay for the movie.
She was, also, one of The Short Circus singers, from the original The Electric Company.
She hasn’t looked well for a while. Very sad.
