ATLANTA - Weird things have spilled on Atlanta interstates before foam tomahawks, produce and a whole mess of livestock, to name a few but no spill has been as lucrative as the one on I-285 Tuesday evening.
An armored truck was driving in the westbound lanes of the interstate when a side door flew open, spilling its contents onto the interstate. Cash was all over the road, according to one driver who called in to WSB AM.
"I saw a bunch of paper floating around in the road and everybody pulling over on the shoulder, and as I got closer I noticed it was all just cash," the driver said.
Typically, a spill on an interstate would stop traffic for a few hours. This time, drivers stopped willingly. Video uploaded to Reddit showed at least half a dozen cars stopped on the shoulder as drivers grabbed at the flying bills.

Hmmm. Just flew open. $100,000 missing. Hmmm. Wonder if a portion of it was in a bag conveniently dropped next to a friend of the crew while everyone else chased individual notes. Or maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight.
My home town. I was a field service engineer back in the 80’s. My territory was South Philadelphia. I was on the road when Joey Coyle found his bags of cash, Wilson Goode blew up and burned down ten square blocks over a building code violation, as well as killed a bunch of kids. Crazy times followed by crazier times.
“Looters should be shot on sight!” — grequent quote in these environs.
Did they quit training on door closing procedures?
Have these drivers ever had a kid fall out of their car?
Someone should say “Sure, Give us two dollars for every dollar, and you got a deal”
LOL
Wow you’re a nice guy thinking about that among all the other comments :)
When I was 11 years old, I found five 1$ MPC notes blowing around in the street on the Navy base in Yokosuka, Japan.
I admit I didn’t even try to find out who it belonged to. It was the most money I had ever had at one time!
I remember when all that went down. Bizarre story! If he was sane he would’ve stashed the cash and spent it wisely!
I took about 50 bucks in 1’s and 5’s and tossed them off of a 2nd floor shopping mall in California. It was awesome, folks were screaming as the bills fluttered down!
It was a point/stunt I was making to a friend about going through a terrible divorce.
yikes
Redistribution of Wealth?
Finders keepers.
