We used to do that but it was only with the now-defunct bottle rockets, not mortars.
Bottle rockets! Those were the days!
One summer back around 1972, dad bought a firework stand. What a great summer. Dont think he made any money but I had black cats and bottle rockets for over a year after he got rid of the stand.
Excess inventory!!
Ya’ll must be up North where all fun has been outlawed. I just finished off our fireworks, including Black Jack bottle rocket and firecrackers and those are some of the milder things we get.
I think they finally did away with M80s though. Too many school toilets having to be replaced.
My neighbor shoots off something called Rocket Boys. It’s a bottle rocket type thing but way bigger. Sounds like a 50 cal round or 8ga shot going off. Sumbitch makes them last all year and shoots one off every other weekend or so. Makes us jump every time.
Those mortars are great. Closest thing to real fireworks you can get. I bought some green fuse and used a glue gun to tie a bunch together. Nailed everything down on a piece of plywood and floated it out onto a small lake to set it off. The whole thing lasted 5 minutes and was our big finish.
