A 22-year old college student, just a month into a job at Disney World, was paralyzed and nearly killed after being struck by a drunken driver.
Gabby Murillo was stopped at a red light near Orlando on June 15 when the driver hit her from behind at full speed, causing her vehicle to slam into a concrete wall.
The driver of the other vehicle was ticketed for careless driving with serious bodily injury, according to the police report.

America is increasingly becoming more of a sh*thole.
Our last family vacation was our biggest by far (aided by Dad’s boss lending him the Cessna 310 that Dad flew for him), and included a visit there in 74. I was 20, my sis was 23 single and living on her own. My younger brothers were 15 and 11, and I’m sure enjoyed it. We stayed there one day, then flew over to the Bahama islands of Eluthera (2 days), and then Exuma (2 more days), and loved it. Sis and I would have been glad to have stayed there for the duration of the trip. But no, we stayed another day at the ‘magic’ kingdom before going back to IL.
After that, i referred to those places as “dizzy world”, “six drags”, and “misadventureland”. I saw it as a glorified county fair midway, selling junk and thrill rides at inflated prices.
My wife and I stopped at Virginia Beach for a few hours while driving down the East Coast, and the most interesting and enjoyable thing was watching the F-18’s flying in and out of NAS Oceana.
Other than that, I didn’t see anything interesting there.
Illegal alien drivers and legalized marijuana use are going to get a lot of American citizens maimed or killed on our taxpayer-funded public roads.
Having lived in the Orlando area for over 20-years there is much more to do than Disney.
I recently hosted a female friend for a week.
We started off by going to a drive-in movie. Over the next week we went to swim with manatees near Crystal River. Then went and rented a room in NSB and saw sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. Really good restaurants up there. Went to one called The Garlic.
Rented kayaks near NSB and a herd? of manatees were so curious they came right up to the boats. One picked up my girlfriends kayak drain plug in its mouth and “towed” her boat for a bit. Then rolled onto its stomach and let my girlfriend pet her!
Went to the Old Spanish Sugar Mill in DeLeon Springs which doubles as a pancake house and natural springs. This is another location where the manatees love to congregate in the Winter. Each table has its own griddle. You order the batter you want and they bring it for you to cook tableside.
Last we went south and spent time at Cape Canaveral and beaches in Cocoa.
Orlando a dump? Far from it. Oh, and since you were in the Navy there did you know that OIA was once a B52 base? McCoy Airfield. Which is why Orlando Airport is known as MCO. There is even a B52 on display outside the airport.
I HATE stopping at red lights and red left turn arrows for this reason. I keep a close eye on the mirror and I’m ready to sprint out of there if somebody is bearing down on me from the rear without braking.
The next thing I hate is stopping under overpasses in California. Getting squashed like a bug underfoot is not my idea of a good way to go.
there was a woman in temecula CA who’s car top half was sheared off by a latino man going 130mph while high on weed.....can’t find a thing about his legal status....I suspect that no one has asked....the poor woman died....
How could you possibly know what her handicapped life would be like? Offing yourself is never an option.
I suspect she will be at the Tommy Nobis Spinal Rehabilitation Center. I drive past there on my back-way cut-through to the Town Center at Cobb Mall and Barrett Parkway shopping corridor.
So basically you didn’t stay in Orlando for entertainment because it’s a dump, right?
State by state. That’s the plan of the UN. Coastal states first.
Yes it WAS special, and inspite of the dizzy world part of the trip, it was a family being together.
Three years later my folks divorced (Dad left for another woman). My mother, always a law abiding citizen, gradually slipped into a gambling addiction that lasted until she entered the nursing home, because the government of IL legalized it with the lottery.
FR has been my intermittant escape today, from working to close my late mother’s estate (which, thanks to the lotteries, is just paperwork. There are no monies to fret over).
(At least the captioned pic on your post tells me something of you, since your about page is empty.)
The driver was ticketed? WTF?
That would be my bet.
“Full speed” has zero meaning w/o knowing the make and condition of the vehicle the perp was driving....
Not at all. People refer to "Orlando" when they mean "Central Florida". Disney's not in Orlando and yet when people say they are going to Orlando all they are doing is going to Disney.
That makes sense. I guess it’s not unusual to add additional charges as time goes by as a result of an investigation.

Even if true, test results taking a while, the driver could still be a threat to public safety, though.
I think something else or additional is going on here.
