Pretty big blow up. I will be surprised if there are no fatalities.
Of course, it is a Saturday morning, so there were probably few people inside.
Watching local 10 news. It was a former “Pizzafire” restaurant. A new tenant was soon to be moving in.
Now the fire chief says the pizza place was next to the store with the explosion.

Usually, but ultimately it depends on the size and source of the gas leak. A slow leak can fill a space to the lower explosive limit (LEL) and may not have the velocity to sustain a flame from the leak as flames will not burn back into an intact line.
Fuel air explosions are difficult to predict.

Per local news now 20 injured, 2 serious.
Initial reports say it was a vacant restaurant, so a natural gas explosion is very likely. Could have been a pilot light that went out and filled it with gas until something sparked it. It is common in FL to run A/C in vacant retail spaces to prevent mold growth from the humidity.
What a mess. I pray no one suffered too severe of injuries.

They said it was a vacant restaurant that exploded, per local reports. Plenty of gas lines/appliances to be found there. I have relatives in FL and it is very common for residential houses to have natural gas for hot water, dryers and cooking with pool heaters and generators common items as well. They normally use heat pumps for any building heating in the cooler months.
A place like LA fitness would probably use gas for hot water and backup generators if equipped.
Could be gas but fact that it was a shopping center makes me suspicious.
I noticed that too. I’d read elsewhere about casualty triage being set up “in the parking lot” but I never say anything like ambulances, stretchers, or the usual detritus that accumulates from doing mascal activities or exercises. MAYBE, and this is just conjecture, MAYBE media there is respecting the privacy of the injured, there’s laws covering it, I don’t know, but yeah, you’re figure there’d be a LOT of activity. So much broken glass, reports of tourniquets on victims, a mystery.
Interesting. Could have been a slow gas leak caused by construction and finally found the correct fuel/air mix and found a ignition source.
A small leak in a nonventilated area, the gas accumulates over time.
Also, the gas is lighter than air and rises, if the source of ignition is near the floor (burner on a water heater) and air gas mix is above the LEL (lower explosive limit)...
Not good.
Some new curtains and cut flowers, and no one’ll know it ever happened.
Could this too have been a divine event?

Little smoke and no fire usually is NOT the result of a natural gas explosion. Little smoke and no fire is the signature of a bomb.
