The body of murdered University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck was recovered 80 miles north of Salt Lake City, police said in a news conference Friday.
Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown said the remains of the 22-year-old college student were recovered Wednesday in Logan Canyon.
In the wake of this tragic, tragic incident, I am relieved and grief-stricken to report that we have recovered Mackenzie Lueck, Brown said.
The announcement comes a week after 31-year-old Ayolla Ajayi was arrested in her killing.
Ajayi was charged with aggravated murder in the tragic and horrific killing of Lueck after authorities said the investigation uncovered a fresh dig area, charred female human tissue and items belonging to Lueck in Ajayi's backyard.
After an exhaustive week of investigation, we are filing charges of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, obstruction of justice and desecration of a body in the homicide of Mackenzie Lueck, Brown said last week.
"I will not be saying the killers name again," he added, noting that the crimes were "tragic and horrific".

Police said Luecke landed at the airport at 1:35 a.m. and texted her parents at 2:01 a.m. to say she had arrived there.
She took a Lyft rideshare at 2:42 from the airport to a park in North Salt Lake.
Police said at a June 24 press conference that interviews with the Lyft driver revealed Lueck met someone in another vehicle at Hatch Park in North Salt Lake when the rideshare driver dropped her off at 2:59 a.m.
Police declined to release details about the make and model of the car or a description of the driver that Lueck met because they have not confirmed those details and do not want to put out possible misinformation.
Detectives have spoken with the Lyft driver and learned that MacKenzie was met at Hatch Park by an individual in a vehicle.
The Lyft driver left MacKenzie at the park with that person and stated that MacKenzie did not appear to be in any type of distress.
We have not yet confirmed the make and model of the car or the description of the person, but may release further details once we have verified that information, Assistant Police Chief Tim Doubt said.
He said the driver saw Lueck make contact with the other person, but was not sure if the driver saw her get into the other vehicle or leave the park."

Lol! Ok, you learn something new everyday!
I never seen it used before.
If her body was found in the canyon near Utah State and also in a burn area in the alleged killers back yard how did she die? Was she burned alive? Was she killed and her body dismembered? What happened?
Was Mackenzie the only victim?
Since the alleged killer was banned by officials at Utah State from setting foot on its campus why does he still have a “green card”?
Why does Amazon still feature the alleged killer’s recipe for murder. book on its website?
Is this man the type of person some politicians consider desirable? Why?
Utah has firing squad I believe. For this guy—use beebee guns.
