The heat Nike is taking over the controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick and the Betsy Ross Flag Shoe is having another effect ... enhancing the brand's appeal to investors.
Nike shares are surging in the wake of the company's decision to recall its special Betsy Ross Flag Air Max 1 USA sneakers after Kaepernick complained the 13-star flag design was offensive because it's been co-opted by several white nationalist groups.
Since Nike pulled the plug on the sneakers following Kaepernick's objections earlier this week, Nike shares have seen a 2 percent increase since Tuesday, adding nearly $3 BILLION to the shoe giant's market value.
Friday afternoon, trading Nike shares were up slightly to $86.62 and the company's market value is now $136.38 billion.
The stock surge looks a lot like what Kevin O'Leary predicted a few days ago ... the "Shark Tank" investor told us Nike is taking advantage of the controversy with a firestorm of free marketing.
A similar trend involving Nike and Kap unfolded last year, with Nike stock rising and sales jumping after the Swoosh signed Kaepernick as a spokesman.
The only customer going in the Nike store that I passed by in a Dallas mall today was a large black man wearing big baggy unflattering knee length white shorts with the huge word NIKE on the side and a blue shirt (probably also said Nike on it). Hed been hanging around outside it for awhile and I swear he was there to make a statement.
Me neither, so what? Not doing something isnt doing something. Your suggestions arent serious, they are nothing.
Soros and his ilk?
I’ve long suspected that a large part of the SJW is within active Stock Market manipulation.
To this day, no one can tell us who pulled $550B out of the market that day in 2008.
We do know that liberals and conservatives were both damaged by it but we also know it crippled McCain’s already poor showing to a point my dead father could have beaten McCain.
And still 11 years later, we don’t know who did it or where the $$$ went.
I suspect it was the Saudi trying to help the Clintons and they messed up.
Wow. If politics and not shoe quality drives a stock price, all I can say is Nike and its investors can go f themselves
That being said, this is due to Trump economy that black people can buy America hating shoes, but I did not expect the beneficiaries to acknowledge
If you looked at the market movers surrounding this, you'd likely find institutional investors and soros-type groups manipulating things. Let's hope they get burned in the long run.
“We are rapidly splitting in to two separate countries, two separate value systems with which there can be no middle ground. Sides will have to be chosen. “
I agree with some of that. But there is still a sizable chunk in the middle that really don’t care about all this nonsense and just go about their lives.
Not everyone’s lives revolve around politics. Mine sure as heck doesn’t.
I think they are buying their own stock.
I think they have been doing it for a while.
Not too long ago, their numbers weren’t that great.
THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.
Patriots gave up on Nike a long time ago. Nike adopting a Colonial flag and then quickly cancelling it, calling it a symbol of racism, was nothing more than a political stunt to remind everyone which side they're on.
THAT S THE SIMPLEST EXPLANATION
Answer to the price increase is simple. The company is buying back its own stock thereby pushing up the price.
But you know, they lose in the end. As people get older they become more Conservative because they have more to lose. Couple that with the fact less children are doing born and from where I sit they will pay the price at some point.
True!! It would be equally valid to credit President Trump and his negotiating trade agreements with the rise in stock prices.
If theyre doing so well, they dont need a handout from Arizona, do they?
When the EBT cards load Nike sales are going to skyrocket.
Nike profits off of Chinese slave labor.
So about that boycott...
My thought as well. I smell a stink.
Nike sells to a specific demographic. Watch for the dyke soccer player to be its next spokesman.
More tangible evidence we cannot live together.
We can separate peacefully or separate with strife and violence. But clearly we cannot co-exist.
I guess that was the plan all along.
My guess is that there were a bunch of dummy trades to boost the price.
