It is very “illinoising” to pay for the corruption. However, for us retirees, There are no taxes on any retirement income, whereas Indiana does tax RMD withdrawals at 3.23%. Also, Illinois’ new gas tax is about 2 cents higher than Indiana’s.
The insanity in Illinois is in the property taxes and the complete chicago/stlouis corruption.
The new progressive taxes, if approved, will drive the big money out.

There are billboards like that in Minnesota touting the advantages of moving your business across the border to Sioux Falls, SD: No income tax, low sales tax, much less burdensome regulations, etc.
