“Our dependence on the grid and tech will probably bite us big-time some day.”

It is biting some of us.

We have a couple of women friends who make a living on the internet, and even with IMacs, they have to wait with slow internets. Besides being frustrating, it is costing them money.

One couple in their 80’s has a son who is in the loan business and uses home computers and fast phones. He was coming over to his parents and using their internet due to 3 adult daughters still living at home and stalling it along their mother, who is all ways connected.

Of course his business use of their internet slowed theirs down to craw. On my suggestion, they told him he had to have his own internet in their home. He did that and updated his parents to a faster private internet.

“Pardon the tin foil but who is to say the big tech cabal cant tag you and throttle your bandwidth to the point of chocking you off the net.”

They probably have bendoing that for a long while ago.

I have posted about how slow our old **&* internet was, and in particular when college kids were at home about 20 years ago.

I had an office in my home, so did a contractor, an architect and a guy with a big office remodeling and home remodeling business. We lived on the same culdesac, and the contractor the next working day got an **&* tech out.

The tech admitted that they had installed a filter to control our internet speed and volume of actions. He showed them the filter that he had removed from the contractors’s outside box. The contractor’s computer was zipping along.

The contractor then called each one of us and told us to come to his office ASAP and to bring our walking sticks.

Three of the other guys had played college football or wrestled. One was also an Airborne vet. We wore sweats or tees showing x military or college sports.

The contractor introduced us to the tech, a former jock himself. The guy apologized and showed us the filter he had removed from the contractors line box.

We had him walk down the hill to each line box and remove the filter from every line box. I was the last one, and my friends were still with us.

The poor guy apologized, and we demanded the filters, and he went back up the hill got into his vehicle and left.

Every computer was zinging along.

Some took their filters to local politicians, our congressit and sent one to a $inator. We copied the mega corp.

I’m sure that now, they can do the above from their home office or driving by.

PG&E has smart electric meters on 99.99% of the homes in California. They can control your power or shut it down from their local offices or from the roads as they drive by.

If PG&E can do that with our electricity, lowering the speed and size of internet activities should be easy to do.

Were at a neighborhood 4th of July party and the discussion

Thank you for taking the time to detail your experience. There is no end to how intrusive things are getting.

Thanks.

That governor bs in/on our internet box bs, happened about 20 years ago.

In today’s world it would be very easy for a big internet company to identify conservative customers and slow down their internet speed when the customer is trying to use Free Republic or any conservative site. They can do this electronically in the field, regional offices or home offices.

Since we got rid of our old internet provider (3 Years ago and switched to Comcast Business), we are not seeing/feeling that slow motion on any smart phone, pad or Chromebook.

If the internet gets too slow, many if not most of us just shut down our computers, pads, smart phones and do something else.

Of course, the elite owners of our internet providers would use and impact/minimize our use of the internet.
