"Guns and fireworks are symbols of the birth of our Nation and our freedom. The beautiful spectacle in the skies and the loud booms created by fireworks are a proxy for the gunfire that forged us as a unified nation. Thus, guns and fireworks are symbols of independence and the power to secure it. Tyrants hate that.
More and more around the country, there are restrictions on gun sales as well as fireworks. This is a symptom of the same illness; over-reaching autocrats pushing their will on the people. Our town doesn’t even put on a 4th of July fireworks show anymore...unless 4th of July happens to land on one of their music in the park events. In which case the fireworks are to celebrate the event and not Independence Day. They say a fireworks show for 4th of July is too expensive or its too dry and will cause a fire. (In the Willamette valley)
The neighborhood puts on a pretty good illegal fireworks show tho, but it’s intermittent since police drive around.
Golf course near us puts on a great display...Willamette Valley
The only reason I would curb a desire to set off fireworks is the prospect of pissing off the neighbors and/or frightening pets. That’s after 50 years setting them off without any concerns. Must be getting old.
Great idea! Well done, you.
