The good news is that premium isn’t much more than regular. Here in KY, most stations charge $.60 more for premium. That is more than 20% more.
I have an FR-S that burns premium. It has 170k miles on it. Fortunately, Kroger is only $.30 more for premium so it’s where I fuel up. But this is the last car I will ever own that burns premium. Period. Exception: If I get a “show” car...

One defining characteristic of “liberalism” is the complete absence of recognizing “cause” and “effect”. Then they double down on whatever particular insanity caused the effect in the first place. I suppose that’s a feature, not a bug in their eyes. A related but important characteristic in their expert stewardship manipulating the levers of power is that they imagine they can tweak or fine tune a specific problem in isolation without having an outsize effect somewhere else.
Of course it generally involves money, so in this instance they’ll probably start handing out gasoline vouchers. Modern government is when someone shows up while you’re minding your own business, breaks your leg, hands you a crutch, and says “Aren’t you glad I came along?”
The roads here are perfect, that is by the politicians homes.

I also read not long ago their background check for purchasing ammo just went into effect, sanctuary cities are refusing to follow the laws, greatest homeless populations in the country...
And they probably act like they just don’t understand why those 150,000 people leave every year...I can see their snowflake governor...well, I guess we just have to tax the crap out of those who haven’t left...

Anyway, not my problem. I’m in Texas, and will pay in the neighborhood of $2.29 the next time I fill up. In addition, California residents had the opportunity to repeal this tax increase, and they did not do so. I simply cannot understand what is wrong with people out there.

One of the things you’ll notice about Marxist states like California is that their wealthiest residents pay ridiculously high income taxes, but they also have highly REGRESSIVE taxes on consumer products. That’s because fuel and sales taxes are the only ones that illegal aliens and various misfits who report no taxable income actually pay.

Don’t know what an FR-S is. But, my 2015 Chevy Silverado 6.2 gasser requires premium. I bought my Silverado with a 6.2 for towing my camper which it does superbly. As you, I usually buy my gas at Kroger (use points accumulated from shopping), Costco, etc. But, regardless, higher cost of premium when on the road is worth the money as the truck serves my purposes.
Well, I do have a Chevy Z71 with a large V8 that burns regular. But I just use it for my property (hauling dirt, wood, etc) and put less than 4k miles on it per year - it’s also the most unreliable vehicle I own. IF I had to pull something I’d just use a diesel. But I don’t. I’m not into boats and my property IS my campsite. :)
BTW, the Scion FR-S is now branded as a Toyota 86.
My son owns a fuel delivery company (fifteen tankers) and all three of his company “pickup trucks” are diesel. Even the Dodges go for hundreds of thousands of miles. ;)

t forget California’s Clean Idle laws for diesel’s, it added $20K to the Cost to EVERY Diesel vehicle in the State, those that dodn’t retrofit had to but a New Vehicle or Leave the State.
it is a $10,000 Fine to come into the State with a Diesel Vehicle that isn’t certified Clean Idle/Clean Burn.
