1) We are a nation under judgment, because God is sovereign over nations as well as individuals
2) All just governance exists by and with the consent of the governed
3) “The state is distinct from society and limited in its offices toward society.” Society exists prior to the state, and the state exists to serve society, not the other way around.
4) Freedom can dissipate into license, private license into public decadence, decadence into chaos, and chaos into authoritarianism. Therefore, only a virtuous people can be free.
