didn't Michael Jackson buy the rights to part of the Beatles stuff?

Yes and, IIRC, McCartney bought them back a few years later.........

Yes. McCartney was giving Jackson investment advice and told him one of the best is to buy the copyrights to pop music catalogs.

McCartney was plenty peeved when Jackson out-bid him for the publishing rights to the Beatles' catalog of songs. Their friendship never recovered.

In a settlement agreement with Sony in 2017, McCartney finally regained control over his and Lennon's catalog of songs.
