Most squirrels are already nervous and hyper by nature. That’s where the term ‘squirrely’ comes from.
On a Coast to Coast radio show last year (when I was awake with insomnia) had a woman guest who makes mind links to communicate with animals. (Yes, I’m laughing to remember this).
She said of all the animals, the squirrels are the most complex and difficult to listen to. They absorb input from all over the place at one time. their multiplex minds observe the people, the smell of food such as seeds or a scrap of bread, the treetops,a dog in a yard and lots more all at once.
I will have to take her word for it. Think of them on meth, too. Wow.
I saw squirrel begging for change to get a fix yesterday and it brought tears to my eyes. I guess the current war on drugs is not working.
Reminded me of an old saying by Confucius regarding the difference between a squirrel and a man. I think it goes something like:
A squirrel sits on a rock and cracks nuts all day.
A man sit on crack all day and rocks nuts.
I fed my squirrels peanut brittle for a few days. They went nuts. Can’t imagine how they’d act on meth.
