Youre right. 51s not very young. And yet, its younger than me. Thanks. Now I realize, Im very old. Harrumph!
LOL
In the blink of an eye, EVERYONE gets there.
It is what it is.
I saw video where the Death Star fired at the Enterprise and the sound you heard was ‘ping’.
Riker said afterward “that’s it?”.
LOL
Photon torpedoes would seem to have an edge over basic laser strikes.
We’ve known about this form for a LONG time. Like, around the time the original series was still on TV.
I mean Richard Hoagland was on board before Star Trek and they knew about this.
More Urinalism (I’d like to thank whoever gave me that term).
Well, we are all waiting breathlessly for your answer. Who won?????
The Death Star’s primary laser is powerful enough to vaporize a planet though. No way a Starfleet deflector shield is absorbing that.
Yeah but that planet didn’t have a deflector shield.
How do we know the Enterprise’s deflector wouldn’t hold on.
It’s taken some tough hits!!
One guy did a stunning review using all kinds of science and math and the Empire’s fleet pretty much sucks.
The Federation would wipe the floor with them.
This is the first thing we'd play. After that I'd lay some Gustav Holst 'Planets' on them.
And even back then (75 - 77) SNL had to compete against UHF channels and state run PBS channels importing Monty Python's Flying Circus (69 - 74) for the first time...in the same time slot.
:)
*Fascinating ping*
Silly.. If you watch The Original Series
That “Boomerang” logo was just the Enterprise’s geometric symbol
If you ever saw a crew member from another ship in star fleet they would have a different logo for each ship on their chest
They were mimicking US World War II carriers that use the geometric logo on the tail of their aircraft
It’s the same with the Star Trek famoust color jerseys the crew wore red blue gold
The copying what’s done on board US carriers for the flight deck crews
That’s true, there were different insignia as well as uniform styles in the original series. Security personnel wore red so that the blood stains were less noticeable, whereas the space babes had lower cut blouses, black stockings, and mini skirts.
“Yeah but that planet didnt have a deflector shield.”
Didn’t it? That’s kind of a debate among Star Wars fans. The old extended universe actually confirmed that Alderaan did have a shield, but then Disney de-canonized that stuff so I guess it is up for debate again.
“How do we know the Enterprises deflector wouldnt hold on.”
The ships in Star Wars have shields too and none of them could resist the Death Star’s beam. All of those capital ships are much larger with presumably much bigger power plants and much stronger shields than a Starfleet ship like the Enterprise. Even against ships in the Star Trek universe the Enterprise’s shields usually go down in about three hits, like EVERY episode.
