Excellent tip...field expedient mimics ER procedure.

“Liquid Bandage”=clear nail polish in a pinch.

Oh yeah super glue for deep cuts and tampons an kotex pads for blood stoppers.

MRE bag or mylar space blanket used as an asherman chest seal to seal a sucking chest wound. Taped on 3 sides over the wound will work well in a pinch.

Salt and sugar mixed in a canteen as an improvised rehydration drink.

Burying water bottles in sand about 3 feet down, pouring a 3 to six gallon can of MOGAS over it and set it on fire..... it will super cool the bottles of water through rapid evaporation to aid in getting heat stress / stroke victims cooled down till they can be evacuated.

Actually used rubbing alcohol and Co2 fire extinguishers with our t-shirts to improvise ice packs ......

Saltwater (at sea) or dirty -suspect water enema to rehydrated as a last resort if victim can’t drink due injury or potable h20 isn’t available....

Have used each of these tricks while waiting for medivac or during transport during my career ....... McGiver type instructors , PJ’s, 18D’s, Corpsman etc shared good info in training over the years.
