I looked at her bio on Wikipedia. Says she was the first Samoan American elected to Congress, but she is apparently only 1/4 Samoan. Family sounds kooky, IMO.

Her father is half Samoan, she was born there but her father was born in the US, as was her mother.
The family is a decent family, I know people who know them as I used to live in HI. Her father was very active in trying to preserve marriage between man and woman only and is well known for that.
