A woman whose lies put a man behind bars for two weeks, and cost him his job and marriage, has had her sentencing delayed after penning an apology letter to her victim.
Caitlyn Gray, 20, falsely accused Good Samaritan Kenan Basic of indecent assault after he spent hours helping to get her car back on the road.
In Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday, Gray handed in a written apology to the magistrate among numerous other documents.
Gray had pulled into a Sydney BP in November 2018 after she smashed her car.
Basic, from Bankstown, offered to help with the damage.
Security vision shows him attending to her vehicle for almost two hours.
Gray then told police Basic had allegedly propositioned her for sex in return for his help before he pursued her in the car and later indecently assaulted her at a different location.
At the time, police described Basic's alleged behaviour as "predatory".
He was charged with numerous offences including indecent assault and put behind bars after being refused bail.
But Basic always claimed he was innocent and on May 6 the charges against him were thrown out in court after Gray admitted to making it all up.
Basic spent two weeks in a maximum security jail and lost his job and marriage as a result of the false allegations.
Gray was charged with contempt of court, fabricating evidence and lying to police.
In court on Tuesday, Magistrate Glenn Walsh ordered a full sentencing assessment report to be submitted and adjourned the matter.
Basic previously told 7NEWS he plans to sue Gray for up to $1 million in damages.

Women have been taught for the last 50 years to hate men, while simultaneously being shielded from any and all consequences for their own actions.
See you next Tuesday.
The proper punishment for her is to put her in the middle of the public square in somalia. She then will have a much better idea of what “rape” means, having experienced it from people who actually practice it, frequently.
There’s still arrogance in those dead little piggie eyes of hers, she’s not sorry. She wrote an apology to avoid heavier sentencing.
I’ll still stop, but the amount of time I will spend helping someone - anyone male/female, young/old - is limited to the battery on my GoPro. I will be recording everything about our interaction so that there will be no question about what did or did not happen. I would advise anyone without a GoPro/daschcam to use the voice/video recording feature of their phone.
Because she could!
Some women, like politicians, once they realize the power they have, just can't resist the urge to flex those muscles. Just yesterday there was a thread here on the outrageous percentage of reported rapes that are actually hoaxes.
She should pay the price he would have.....DOUBLE!
Hes better off without her.
Better yet, don't even acknowledge their presence, let alone help them out of a jam.
Flat tire? Tough !@$%.
[[But his marriage? Im thinking the wife was just needing an excuse.]]
You got that right. Trust much?
That's why we need more women in political office. If only the world were run by honest women like Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton, Ilhan Omar, and Kamala Harris, there would no more wars, and no more poverty...
Yeah, their both ugly, probably happened in Australia.. :)
Agreed. The penalty for false accusation should be same max as the equiv the other person could get.
The Kavanaugh hearings taught us to believe her.
YOURS is the most important post today!!! With the slogan, “The Woman MUST be believed” is going to make countless men to ignore that “person” beside the broken-down car and SAFELY continue on his merry way. Possibly he’ll call 911 to report the situation
As a UNIFORMED youth, “risking ones’ life” meant the LOSS of it and any future.
Today, that “risk” could well mean the end of any value to the rest of one’s life.
To she stranded by the road, “Best of luck, honey.”
The Red Pill movie ought to be a high school graduation requirement for boys. Period.
What does THAT have to do with handing down a sentence? What, go easy on her now that she's sorry? BS!
She’s 20?? Damn.
She should get capital punishment.
This kind of nonsense has far reaching effects.
Someone is broke down on the side of the road, walking, whatever, maybe even appear injured or wounded, most people are always quick to help. That’s the right thing to do.
The hell with that. Not worth the risk. Just keep driving. Just walk on by.
Thanks a lot Bitch.
