I would check your online credit reports, just in case someone has opened this account in your name.

Likely just a phishing expedition, but check your credit report to make sure no one opened any accounts in your name.
The call centers get bombarded, including quite a few calls from people trying to fraudulently gain access to account info, the CSR’s are trained to be tight lipped.
Hope this helps.

Looks like it’s time to change your socialist security number.

Sounds like the letter itself was a scam

Did you give them any personal information like SSNs passwords? emails?

Cause that is how the scam works

I had one where “Direct Tv” called about installing service, they called me twice, and one time I answered and stated, I never ordered it. They transferred me around until some guy asked me for my Direct Tv Now account name and password. I hung up the phone. It was a sophisticated phishing scam to get my Direct TV now account so they can either open more accounts in my name, hijack it, or order phones or some other stuff.

Scammers are everywhere. I could imagine these dirtbags creating fake official looking change of service terms, mail them out and get people calling the fake number to get as much info as they can from you.

If you don’t actually have a credit card from them, I would just ignore it.

But as some suggested, you might pull your free credit report and double check, to make sure there isn’t such a card listed under your name.

Junk mail.

Trying to scam people via mail is so 1980’s.

But if you don’t have a chase card don’t worry. But remember that chase does a bunch of vanity cards—for example all of my Marriott cards and my Amazon cars are chase cards. You may have one and not realize it.

Did you used to have a checking account with them? At one time they converted their overdraft accounts to credit card accounts.

Very Common
My favorite is when they suck in a Law Firm and I get a call from them... Over my laughter they are trying to tell me how serious the situation is...

Me, “Sue me dummies”

I got one, and I have Chase. It requires no response, does it?

Remember Chase used to be Washington Mutual, IIRC, if you ever had a card w/ them.

Check your credit, and if a Chase account appears, draw up and send a clear and concise letter with delivery confirmation to the President of Chase asking for a detailed explanation and a firm assurance that your credit will not be impacted. If you do not receive a suitable reply within thirty days, you will consult a personal injury attorney about filing a slander of credit action against Chase.

That is likely the best leverage that you have. Several times over the years I have gotten unusually good results for myself or others by writing directly to someone at the top. They of course buck the matter down the chain of command. The schlub who is then tasked with a response hops to it and does a good job in order to shine with his superiors by defusing the hand grenade that was rolled into their foxhole.

Someone used your name and address on an account, maybe? With a fake SS number?

I have an Amazon Card, which is administered by Chase, and I received a similar letter. If you do have an account, they change the conditions pretty much at will, and your only recourse is to can the account and put up with someone else’s equally objectionable rules.

If you don’t have an account, its odd that you got it, but of no consequence.

Check your credit report - possible you had a card and haven’t used it...if you have a credit card, you should have an on-line account as it allows you to see activity and account info - and most also provide free credit reports available at the click of a link when logged in.
