There’s a recurring complaint with King County Metro customers: The buses or bus stops smell of human waste. And some customers are losing their patience, sometimes unfairly.
“Either you have a serial dumper or no one did anything to address this,” one customer complained. “Sick of it. Clean this [expletive] up, literally.”
As a frequent bus user, I’ve experienced some of the same observations on routes 70 and 8. The bus or bus stop can sometimes smell as if it’s been used as a toilet.
KTTH and MyNorthwest, through a public disclosure request, poured through over 15,000 complaints filed with Metro online throughout all of 2018, and we noticed a trend. It’s almost assuredly a direct consequence of a region’s out of control homelessness — which Metro isn’t remotely responsible for.
One complaint said the stench near a bus stop of the Rapid Ride E, at South Washington Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue, was so bad, a bus rider literally gagged.(snip)
One user felt scared in downtown Seattle where they constantly deal with aggressive panhandlers. It was not the user’s first complaint(snip)
In Wallingford, a rider complained that the bus stop is disgusting due to human waste and garbage that hasn’t been cleaned for days.(snip)
...I’ve routinely seen bus drivers let homeless people on the bus without paying or showing a pass, usually (and understandably) to avoid a tense showdown that makes the already-late bus even more tardy to their next stop.
Some of these homeless individuals are clearly causing the stench on board and, rather than getting help, City and County leaders keep them in an unhealthy state, while ruining the Metro experience.

I’m thinking they should embrace the experience and raise fares.
They just raised gas taxes again....
Austin, TX will soon be just like San Fran and Seattle now that the homeless are allowed to pitch camp in front of businesses.
Never has “turd world” been more appropriate to describe these progressive shithole cities.
There is a popular Democrat response to urban mismanagement. Just legalize marijuana and maybe no one will care if there is s**t on their shoes.

The Mayor must be in the same vein as London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan: ‘it’s just part and parcel of living in a big city’ (in reference to the violence in London). Democrat Mayors should be forced to clean up their cities, but they won’t be. Leftists and the homeless will still flock to Dem cities.

Indeed it will. I've seen a couple of urban outdoorsmen squatting, in broad daylight, relieving their bowels near 4th/Red River. I expect that behavior to multiply and with the soon to come tent cities, it will be interesting to see how our incompetant mayor and council deal with it. My bet is that they throw even more of our $$$ at these problems.
And they still vote for liberals.
The people of Seattle got what they asked for. One supposes it’s what they wanted. Why are they complaining?
