Seven motorcyclists were killed and three others injured when they collided with a pickup truck going the opposite direction in New Hampshire, police said.
Authorities received a call around 6:30 p.m. Friday about a motor vehicle crash on Route 2 in Randolph, New Hampshire State Police Capt. Chris Vetter said.
The pickup truck, a 2016 Dodge 2500, was traveling west on Route 2 while the motorcyclists were traveling east, police said.
State police collision analysis and reconstruction teams are investigating the crash, and will continue overnight in conjunction with local police and the Coos County Attorney's Office.
"Route 2 is closed for the foreseeable future. The scene is pretty large and there's a lot of work to be done," Vetter said. "I don't know that I have ever seen a crash with this much loss of life. It was a pretty significant accident."

Survivors said they were doing 20-30 mph fixing to turn into their motel lot when it happened.
No matter how bad some people seemingly want to pin this on the dead, a driver, probably effed up, slaughtered them.
“Survivors said they were doing 20-30 mph fixing to turn into their motel lot when it happened.”
That makes sense. Then some guy going way too fast for the road slams into the rear of them. I was on a hilly, winding road that was out in the country and posted 50 mph. I was comfortable at 40 or less on a strange road, at dusk with deer in the fields. There would be no way at 50 mph to stop in time for something (a deer, motorcycle or a car) stopped in the middle of the road.
Have you ever seen the you tube dashcam footage of Russian drivers?
They are stinking CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy needs to be put away for life for murder and the company that was willing to hire him as a driver sued into oblivion.
AND the DMV that issued him a CDL with a driving record like that needs to be held liable, as well.
I've seen some riders in a group crowd the center line, and wondered WTF they were doing.
Had an OCY for near 45 years.
I know who you are on FR, and know your extensive experience. I'm just telling you what I've observed in the last few years, through the lens of my own experience.
I'm going with you on this, because I've read into this whole situation.
I always look out for cyclists, because I've been there myself. I love to ride, but I don't trust the opposing traffic any more.
I was less wary of Bambi in my youth, but now I know that deer are just effing stupid.
The driver of a pickup truck that plowed into a group of motorcyclists
in New Hampshire has been charged with seven counts of homicide.
Last month a friend was taken out by a deer, even though he was watching other deer crossing and had slowed down to 15mph.
He signaled to the car behind him that there were deer ahead and the herd’s trailing buck got him.
The deer that slammed into the side of his bike was probably running full tilt.
The friend is alive but banged up and his summer will be spent healing, not riding.
Not only do I drive aware and slow through my area at night, I have a 3000 watt stereo blasting rock the whole time.
The deer not only look up and take notice, they run like hell the other way,
In a badly infested area, I play White Zombie.
Best deer repellent ever.
