Five Easy Pieces is a 1970 American drama film written by Carole Eastman (as Adrien Joyce) and Bob Rafelson, and directed by Rafelson. The film stars Jack Nicholson, with Karen Black, Susan Anspach, Ralph Waite, and Sally Struthers in supporting roles.
The film tells the story of surly oil rig worker Bobby Dupea, whose rootless blue-collar existence belies his privileged youth as a piano prodigy. When Bobby learns that his father is dying, he goes home to see him, taking along his waitress girlfriend.

Toni Bas as one of the hitchhiker so. They were funny.

You want me to hold the chicken?!?!
The oil scenes were filmed around Taft CA.
There’s a huge oil industry around there.
Sure... How else can you choke it?
A lot of it was in Oregon. Shortly after we moved to the area.
That scene needs to be the national scene to save our Nation.
I was telling some friends about this scene a couple of months back when the topic of not being able to get good service came up. Classic.
“I want you to hold it between your knees!”
The early 70s was a golden age of American film.

Karen Black was in Adam-12 and her character flirted shamelessly with Malloy.
The family stuff looks to be Washington. The road trip with the two women is Oregon. The editing shows them all over the place. That’s I-5 outside the diner window. The scene before and after are on 101 and 126 going into Florence, I believe.
It was a great movie. I saw it back then, just after release.
FEP was okay, but Chinatown was the Ducks guts. But there was also American Graffiti and The Wild Bunch.. so many.
They were still making movies back then...
Tony Basil. Didn’t she and Karen Black play the hookers in easy rider?
Did she sing the song, “hey Micky you’re so fine, hey Micky?”
I see them credited as “Mary” and “Karen.” Other’s are “hooker. “
I’d have to dig out the DVD to see how they were credited at the time.
And , yeah.... Mickey. Sure got tired of that on MTV.
