Some think Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went too far when she compared the detention of immigrants at the border to being put in "concentration camps" earlier this week.
But actor and activist George Takei, who was sent to a Japanese-American internment camp during World War II with his family, backed up the New York Democrat's characterization.
"I know what concentration camps are," Takei wrote on Twitter this Tuesday. "I was inside two of them, in America. And yes, we are operating such camps again."

My maternal side of the family was sent to Rohwer, Arkansas, the same relocation camp as Takei and his family. No way would my family would call Rohwer a concentration camp.
My mother said although no one wanted to be there once they got there the conditions were not too bad. Because the Democratic governor would not allow people in the camp to work in Arkansas (other camps allowed people to work) my family was permitted in 1944 to move to Colorado and work there. Lucky me, that is where my mother and father met.
I’ve read that Takei’s family was moved to Tule Lake in 1943 because his family refused to sign the loyalty oath or was disruptive at Rohwer. By that time Tule Lake no longer was a relocation center but a camp under martial law.

It was a prison camp. A concentration as we know from WW2 was a death camp and he knows it.

Really? People were tortured, forced into hard labor and starved to death at the internment camps?
If George were truly in a concentration camp....he wouldn’t be here today to talk about it.

I believe the camps were referred to as “internment centers” or camps. They were not like the ones the Nazi’s created. One major difference, was that the American internment camps had ovens that only baked bread, not people.

I am not sure what liberals know. They create a fantasy world where an old man wearing a MAGA hat is actually the same as physically attacking them. That is how they justify “defending” themselves by physically attacking back. Given that, I have to wonder if liberals see the same reality as the rest of us. I suspect not. It’s untrue that most Nazis were fags.
However it is true that much of the SA - Stormtrooper senior hierarchy was. For example Ernst Rohm the head of the SA didn’t even hide it. They wrapped some weird warrior macho ethos around it. Rohm up until 1933 was Hitler’s closest adviser & friend. Also Rohm was very much a “Red” Nazi emphasized the Socialist in National Socialist. He wanted to remake society along “socialist” lines much as the Russian communists did. In that regard he was ideologically similar to Stalin rather then Lenin. Nationalize industry, agriculture, tear the army from its Prussian Junker traditions and turn it into an ideologically pure peoples army. (Himmler’s SS was almost that!) However for Hitler to gain power he had to go, so they had the “The Night of the Long Knives” and he was gone! By the way Goebbels was of that “red” faction in the Nazi’s. He quickly realized who buttered his bread and changed his views. There is some intriguing evidence that Hitler while young was gay. WWI army stories and a story from a retired Viennese vice cop that Hitler was a “rent boy” (male prostitute) during his struggling Vienna art students days. He claimed a file on Hitler once existed but now its long gone.
This all was from memory from my reading the books, forgive me if I am off.

“Hidden Hitler” is the better book, better written & sourced.
