As I understand their roles NSA Bolton wouldn’t have been the one to make the call.
He may have recommended and promoted it, but the call would be made by POTUS, SECDEF, or SECNAV. Far as I know National Security Advisor doesn’t get to direct assets in the way Tucker seems to be indicating. Maybe he requested it, but the command would have come from one of the 3 in the military chain.
I’m sure I overstated Bolton’s reach, or clout. But, Tucker seemed to sound critical of even the US presence in the region, and in a twist over any appearance of escalation, by the US, over the drone affair.
Given that Tucker was interviewing Bolton’s man, the intent (imho) was to extrapolate to Bolton, and setting him up as a war hawk. Which he is. With Trump in office Bolton doesn’t worry me, despite his reputation for hawkish readiness. Trump has checked Bolton on more than one occasion, even in public, once.
The Left is trying to parlay events into a slam against POTUS and their paid pitch fork media would love to get Bolton fired, just cuz. Harassing every single player around Trump is the current front of battle.
